NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
With the Seahawks knotted with Arizona and San Francisco in a three-way tie for first place in the NFC West and the Rams trailing pack by just one game, there is a lot on the line in Sunday’s matchup. While the Rams have struggled on the road overall, they have enjoyed regular success in Seattle, where they claimed a decisive 30-13 win in Week 1 last year to improve to 3-1 in four visits. Overall, the Rams have taken 10 of 14 from the Seahawks and produced against the spread wins in six of seven meetings. However, recent clashes have tended to be tight, low-scoring affairs, with three of their past dates getting settled by four or fewer points and the UNDER paying out in eight of the past 10.
Los Angeles Rams
The Rams benefited from the return of both Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua in last week’s victory over the Vikings. After missing the four previous games due to injury, Kupp stepped up to make five catches for 51 yards and one touchdown while recorded 108 receiving yards in his first appearance since Week 1. With his favourite targets returning to health, quarterback Matthew Stafford connected on four scoring passes after find the end zone just twice over the previous five games. Stafford’s success in the air didn’t slow down rusher Kyren Williams, who picked up 97 yards but failed to find the end zone after running for eight scores in six previous appearances.
Seattle Seahawks
It is tough to overstate just how badly the Seahawks were thrashed by the Bills in last weekend’s 31-10 loss. Seattle gained just three or fewer yards on four of their first five possessions of the game and saw the Bills produce multiple touchdown-scoring drives of 90 or more yards that put matters out of reach before the half. The loss is a massive letdown for the Seahawks, who appeared to have turned the corner while rolling to a surprising 34-14 win in Atlanta two weeks ago. But with quarterback Geno Smith struggling with control while tossing six picks against just six touchdowns over the past six games, it is tough seeing things improve against a revitalized Rams squad. Those matters are not helped by the uncertain status of receivers DK Metcalf and Laviska Shenault Jr., both of whom missed time at practice this week with knee injuries. On a positive note, the Seattle ground game has produced scoring runs in each of the past three games. But Seahawks rushers have averaged just over 62 rushing yards per game over that span, with Kenneth Walker III just 63 total rushing yards in his past three home appearances.
