Raiders’ DE Chandler Jones Expected to Miss Week 1

As the start of the regular season approached, strange vibes emerged from the Las Vegas Raiders’ camp, specifically defensive end Chandler Jones’ relationship with club management. Now it appears he won’t be on the field when the team takes on rivals Denver Broncos Sunday in Week 1.

Raiders’ DE Chandler Jones to Miss Week 1

A mediocre 2022 campaign that came with a heavy price tag, followed by a uniquely uncomfortable leadup to the 2023 season. This is where the Las Vegas Raiders and their defensive end Chandler Jones are right now.

Chandler Jones made some choice remarks on social media this week about the team’s management and coaching staff when a local crisis response team was sent to his house. This was in the aftermath of not being allowed into the team’s training facility last weekend.

Make no mistake, this is a bizarre story. Clearly, the relationship between the player and the team is as low as it can get, short of them simply parting ways.

Given Jones’ absence, 2023 draft pick Tyree Wilson and third-year player Malcolm Koonce should get some time to shine under the spotlight. It’s also being reported that the Raiders need to make some roster moves to fit 2022 rushing leader Josh Jacobs onto the final 53-man lineup.
