Panthers vs. Colts Point Spread: NFL Predictions, Week 16 Odds
The Colts will host their final home game of the season when the Panthers come to town. It hasn’t been a good season for either team, the Panthers will be looking for a new Head Coach, while the Colts will be looking for new personnel as both will miss the post season.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
There isn’t much history between the Panthers and Colts with only three games played since the 2007 season. The last game was back in November of 2015, with the Panthers scoring a 29-26 overtime win.
The Colts are 0-4 against the spread in their last four home games versus a team with a losing record, and 1-6-2 ATS in their last nine games versus a team with a losing record.
The Panthers haven’t fared much better, as they are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games against teams with a losing record and 2-7-1 in their last 10 games overall.
Both of these teams have played to the over this season. The Colts are a respectable 8-6 to the over, while the Panthers are an incredible 10-4. Will these two teams continue that trend?
Carolina Panthers
Only the Detroit Lions are colder than the Carolina Panthers. The Cats have lost six games in a row, and have lost seven of their last eight games. What’s even more disappointing is, this team actually started off 4-2 through the first six games.
Last weekend the Panthers fell to the Seahawks 30-24, but that score is rather flattering. The Seahawks built up a 30-10 only to see Carolina score two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to make the score look respectable.
Christian McCaffrey, by his standards, has not put up big numbers as of late, but that changed last week. McCaffrey scored two touchdowns against the Hawks, his first scores since November 24. He also combined for 175 yards (receiving & rushing).
Quarterback Kyle Allen has struggled as of late, throwing for 15 interceptions over the last eight games, including three against the Seahawks. He has one victory over the last eight games and there is some talk that Will Grier might get an opportunity over the next two weeks and it could start this weekend.
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts enter this game with the Panthers losers of four straight games after an embarrassing 34-7 loss on Monday night to the Saints.
Drew Brees ripped through the Colts defence passing for 307 yards on an incredible 29-of-30 passing.
The good news for the Colts, Kyle Allen/Will Grier are not Drew Brees. The bad news, at 6-8 they have officially been eliminated from the post season and like the Panthers will be playing out the final two games of the season with nothing on the line.
Earlier this week at practice Head Coach Frank Reich was asked about the starting quarterback position moving forward. Reich made it clear that the team is still in a developmental mode with Jacoby Brissett, and that he will be taking the majority of the snaps as he continues to lead this team. Reich did mention that the team will give some opportunity to younger players on the roster at other positions over the next two games.
