Rookie QB Bryce Young to Play this Week for Panthers
Carolina’s new head coach Frank Reich shared on Sunday that the club’s rookie QB Bryce Young will get the nod to start Saturday’s game versus the New York Jets.
He was careful not to divulge too much information to the media, such as how many snaps the young gun will take.
“I do have an idea. There is flexibility in the plan. There has to be. That’s just being smart about it. We have a general idea how many plays we want to get through the whole preseason, but that can be adjusted by 10 or 20 per cent depending on how things go.”
On the other side of the field, the Jets do not plan on sending future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers into the action. However, there is a joint practice between the teams this week, which will allow Rodgers to connect with his teammates against some real opposition to an extent.
The Carolina Panthers hope they have found their quarterback of the future in Bryce Young. Should he develop into starting, even winning NFL QB material, it will put an end to a revolving door of gunslingers that have stepped into the number one role but couldn’t help the team get out of its rut. Sam Darnold, Teddy Bridgewater, and even a second Cam Newton stint all proved unsuccessful choices by previous regimes.
