Packers vs. Rams Point Spread: NFL Week 5 Odds, Prediction
The other connector between the Packers and Rams is they’ve had to try and stay afloat after some key early-season injuries. Green Bay managed to go 2-0 in the two outings Jordan Love missing with his knee injury, and the team is ironically 0-2 with Love after last week’s 31-29 loss versus Minnesota.
The 1-3 Rams remain without their two top receivers in Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua and it’s starting to show. In all three of L.A.’s losses this season, they’ve failed to go over 20 points. And the way the Packers offence is humming along, the winner of this game may need to go way above 20.
Kickoff at SoFi Stadium gets going at 4:25 p.m. EDT with the Packers a three-point road favourite (and -175 on the moneyline), while the total is at 48.5 on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Despite both clubs having success over majority of the past 5–10 years, the Green Bay Packers own the L.A. Rams. The Packers are 10-0 against the spread in their last 10 meetings with the Rams and 9-1 outright. The last time the Rams franchise beat the Packers was October 8, 2006. Green Bay also comes into Sunday having lost seven straight October contests, meaning something’s got to give.
Both clubs are 3-1 to the over this season, but mainly due to defensive woes. The Rams are allowing the second-most points per game this season with 28.8 and Green Bay’s not much better with 22.3 against per outing. Eight of the last nine Packers contests overall have finished over the total.
Green Bay Packers
Last week the Packers entered a huge divisional battle with all the confidence in the world. Two brilliant gameplans saw Matt LaFleur’s club go undefeated while quarterback Jordan Love rehabbed a knee injury, and then he came back earlier than expected to start in Week 4. A 28-0 deficit to start last week’s loss then served as a punch in the mouth, or even a reality check.
Love chucked up 54 passes in the losses and filled the stat-sheet with 388 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions. Love was forced to play hero-ball in the comeback bid, which for a second actually had life as Green Bay tried to recover an onside kick down 31-29. The message this week for Green Bay should be easy: don’t just finish strong, but start fast.
Los Angeles Rams
Receiver Cooper Kupp’s already been ruled out for Week 5, meaning the Rams need to keep working with the group they got — a group that’s so far not getting it done. Matthew Stafford went without a touchdown pass in Chicago last week as L.A. again relied heavily on running back Kyren Williams, who received 23 touches for 104 yards and a score in last week’s loss. Tutu Atwell led the team with 82 receiving yards, but rookie sixth-round pick Jordan Whittington is coming on strong with a breakout six-catch, 62-yard performance last Sunday.
On defence the Rams may be getting back cornerback Darious Williams, who’s yet to play in 2024 due to a hamstring injury. L.A. still lacks serious star power on defence, but for now the addition of a veteran defender in Williams can only help.
