The New York Giants will meet the surging Green Bay Packers this Sunday afternoon in an NFC Wild Card game in Packers territory. The Giants have historically done well at Lambeau, but if Rodgers is in top form, he’ll be a challenge for the Giants’ defense. Sports Interaction’s Wild Card playoff odds are currently listing Green Bay as -5 favorites.

Green Bay Packers
At week 10, it looked like the Pack wouldn’t be making it to the postseason for the first time in 8 years. So, when Rodgers told the press six weeks ago that his team would come back from a 4-6 record and run the table, the team (and the fanbase) was re-invigorated. When Rodgers makes a promise, he tends to keep it. Rodgers hasn’t thrown an interception in seven games and has eight TD passes in his last two. When #12 is playing at this level, his team is nearly impossible to beat.
Rodgers and company looked good against the Lions last week when they clinched the NFC North and he became the first passer in Packers history to pass for 300 yards and four TDs in consecutive weeks.
Let’s take a closer look at the digits going into the Wild Card game. Aaron Rodgers is completing 65.7% of his passes for 4,428 yards, 40 touchdowns and seven interceptions. WRs Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams have combined for 2,254 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns. The Packers ground game is averaging 106.3 yards per contest, with red hot Ty Montgomery leading with 457 yards and three touchdowns.
New York Giants
Winning at Lambeau during the playoffs is arguably one of the toughest things to do in the National Football League. That said, the Giants have done it before, and their defensive unit is one of the best in the league at the moment, which could be a headache for Rodgers’ and his receivers. The Giants receivers are no slouches either, and with a crippled Green Bay secondary, the Packers could run into some problems.
The Giants are in the postseason because of the incredible turnaround from their defense. Last season, they were ranked 30th in the league on D, allowing an average of just under 28 points per game. This year, they allowed an average of 17.8 points per game, which is 2nd in the league. They ran a five-game win streak and were able to beat Dallas in both of their games against them this season. They aren’t exactly putting up huge numbers though, averaging 19.4 points per game, 26th in the league.
The Giants have 9 Ws in their last 11 games, although they haven’t won a playoff game since they got to the Super Bowl in 2011. Eli Manning is completing 63% of his passes for 4,027 yards, 26 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Star WR Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard, who is having a great season, have combined for 2,050 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns. The Giants ground game is averaging 88.3 yards per game.
