NFL Week 6 Weather Report: Chicago is Windy City, Rain in Cleveland and Buffalo
It’s now the middle of October. The mild and hot days of early September are in the rear-view mirror in some NFL markets. The air is a bit nippy and when it rains it doesn’t feel as refreshing as during the dog days of summer. Cleveland, Chicago, and Buffalo all host contests this weekend and risk doing so in less-than-ideal conditions.

NFL Week 6 Weather Report
Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears
Although the gusts won’t be overly dramatic, the visiting Vikings will get a mild taste of the Windy City on Sunday afternoon. Wind speed at kickoff is expected to be 19.5 miles per hour and it will increase to just over 20 during the afternoon. Minnesota plays all its home games in a dome and will have to adjust its kicking game, – punting and field goals – accordingly.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Cleveland Browns
It will be a wet afternoon in Cleveland, Ohio when the Browns host the San Francisco 49ers. Rain should cover 67 per cent of the territory, even reaching 73 per cent later in the afternoon. Some fans may recall that one of San Francisco’s few defeats in 2022 was on opening day at Chicago when the teams played in the rain. The Browns won’t have DeShaun Watson under centre, but the 49ers may still need to be mindful of the conditions.
New York Giants vs. Buffalo Bills
Sunday night in Orchard Park will be for the real fans out there. Who are we kidding? The Bills’ supporters are faithful, they’ll show up despite that 65 per cent of the region will be covered in rain at kickoff. The percentage drops as evening shifts to the night, but that field will most likely be slippery given that drizzles continue.
