NFL Week 3 Player Props and Predictions: How has Joe Burrow’s calf injury impacted betting odds?

Don’t forget to check out our complete list of NFL games oddsNFL player props and NFL futures betting.

Thursday Night Football: New York Giants at San Francisco 49ers

All 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy does is win…literally. Purdy has eight career regular season starts and he’s won them all. His only loss and an NFL starter was last year’s NFC title game when he suffered an elbow injury on the first drive and he couldn’t throw the ball past the line of scrimmage in the second half.

Looking for something else Purdy does? He throws touchdowns. Outside of last week, Purdy has thrown at least two touchdown passes in every single regular season or playoff game he has started. Purdy has completed 66.7 per cent of his passes through two games this season, throwing for two TDs and no interceptions while averaging 7.9 yards per attempt.

Long story short, Purdy is a virtual lock to terrorize the Giants’ defence on Thursday Night Football. The Niners have scored at least 30 points in eight of Purdy’s 10 career starts and that trend should continue in a short week against injury-riddled New York.

NFL Week 3 Prediction: Brock Purdy Over 1.5 passing touchdowns (-120)

Sunday Night Football: Pittsburgh Steelers at Las Vegas Raiders

Davante Adams’ stats through two weeks have been solid. He has 12 catches on 17 targets and leads the Raiders with 150 receiving yards while hauling in one touchdown. That’s an average of 75 yards per game and 12.5 yards per catch. Adams is starting to build chemistry with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, which will obviously be key to the Raiders’ success this season.

Adams and the Raiders are up against Pittsburgh at home in Week 3. The Steelers have the 16th ranked pass defence, allowing an average of 206.5 yards per game. Adams is poised for a big stat line against Pittsburgh. He’ll likely receive the most targets even if Jakobi Meyers returns after missing last week’s game with a concussion, and the Raiders’ struggling ground attack means they’ll focus on throwing the ball.

Bank on a big night from Adams in Week 3.

NFL Week 3 Prediction: Davante Adams Over 73.5 receiving yards (-110)

Monday Night Football: L.A. Rams at Cincinnati Bengals

What’s wrong with Joe Burrow? That’s arguably the biggest mystery in the NFL entering Week 3. Yes, Burrow is dealing with a calf injury, but he’s played hurt before and never looked as bad as he has through two weeks of the 2023 season.

Burrow had the worst game of his NFL career in Week 1, completing 14 of 31 pass attempts for just 82 yards and no touchdowns. That’s right, only three days after becoming the highest paid player in NFL history, Burrow threw for less than 100 yards.

Week 2 was a little better, with Burrow completing 27 of 41 pass attempts for 222 yards, two TDs and an interception, but it still wasn’t enough to get a win.

So, we ask again, what’s wrong with Burrow? He appeared to aggravate his calf injury last week, but it looks like there’s more to his poor performance than simply playing through the pain. Something’s going on in Cincy and it’s not good.

NFL Week 3 Prediction: Joe Burrow Under 265.5 passing yards (-110)
