NFL Week 2 Injury Report: Odds Move with Mac Jones Replacing Brock Purdy

Just one week into the season and already a number of teams are looking for their next man up in key positions. San Francisco 49ers star tight end George Kittle will be out for at least four weeks after he hit the IR and now reports indicate starting quarterback Brock Purdy could be out up to five weeks with a turf toe issue. Plus, wideout Jauan Jennings is also questionable for Week 2 with a shoulder injury.

Here are a number of other NFL injuries that you should keep your eye on ahead of Week 2.

Updated NFL Week 2 Injury Report

Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers QB – Shoulder/toe (San Francisco 49ers at New Orleans Saints)

Come on down, Mac Jones. The 49ers originally claimed that Purdy was a “long shot to play” this weekend, but now it appears it will Jones taking the snaps for a while. Oddsmakers had the 49ers as 4.5-point favourites and moved that line to -3 with this news. Could hometown bettors move this line even more? It’s entirely possible. Meanwhile, the 49ers’ Super Bowl odds are holding around +1800 though that’s something to keep tabs on over the next few weeks as well. It’s worth noting that Jones has won just four of his last 18 NFL starts.

Micah Parsons, Green Bay Packers DL – Back (Washington Commanders at Green Bay Packers on TNF)

Just how healthy is Micah Parsons anyway? He had a sack in last week’s debut with the Packers even though he only played about 40 per cent of the defensive snaps. Now he’s officially listed as questionable in a quick turnaround game against Jayden Daniels and Washington’s upstart offence. Expect him to suit up and be on a snap count again.

Xavier Worthy, Kansas City Chiefs WR – Shoulder (Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Chargers)

Travis Kelce put his hand up to take responsibility for the collision that sent Worthy to the IR this week. Now the Chiefs need him to step up in a huge way and catch some footballs. Hollywood Brown probably isn’t best suited as a No. 1 wideout, but he and Kelce are the best options at Patrick Mahomes’ disposal right now. Not the best set of circumstances ahead of a Super Bowl rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Drake London, Atlanta Falcons WR – Shoulder (Atlanta Falcons at Minnesota Vikings)

London suffered an AC sprain in last week’s game and didn’t check back in after leaving in the fourth quarter. He had eight catches for 55 yards on 15 targets and is officially listed as questionable. On the bright side, it does sound like WR Darnell Mooney will be back in the lineup after sitting out last week.
