Cam Newton

Cam Newton keeps scoring touchdowns and the Panthers keep winning as they get set for a Thanksgiving date with Dallas.

Thanksgiving is a time for family and friends, but if you can’t stand your relatives, your friends never answer the phone, or you just happen to be Canadian, at least you have football.

Thanksgiving weekend is often when the rubber hits the road in the NFL season. The bye weeks are out of the way and this officially kicks of the homestretch to the playoffs, so dig into all of the NFL odds for Week 12.

NFL Spreads Week 11 Best Picks Against the Spread

Current NFL Odds

Updated odds in italics

Philadelphia Eagles at Detroit Lions

Point spread: Eagles -1 / Pick ’em / Lions -2.5

Total: 46.5

There’s a lot of finger-pointing going on in the Eagles’ locker room as Philadelphia has lost consecutive games and things are looking up in Detroit. The Lions have actually earned more money for bettors on Thanksgiving than any other team. Nice value here on the home dog.

Pick against the spread: Lions +1

Carolina Panthers at Dallas Cowboys

Point spread: Cowboys -1 / Panthers -1 / Pick ’em

Total: 44

No matter how bad the Cowboys are, they always see a lot of betting support on Thanksgiving. The fact that Dallas is such a public team plays into this line and oddsmakers still aren’t giving the 10-0 Panthers any respect, even after Cam Newton threw for five touchdowns in Week 11.

Pick against the spread: Panthers +1

Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers

Point spread: Packers -9 / Packers -8

Total: 47

The Packers got their offence back on track with a strong performance in Minnesota, but this is a tough spot to cover nine points. The Bears went down to the wire with Denver last weekend and won’t roll over against their rivals.

Pick against the spread: Bears +9

Sunday, Nov. 29

Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs

Point spread: Chiefs -6

Total: 42

The Kansas City Chiefs might be the hottest team in the NFL as they’re riding a four-game winning streak that includes victories over Denver and Pittsburgh. The Chiefs have allowed just 39 points over that span.

Pick against the spread: Chiefs -6

Miami Dolphins at New York Jets

Point spread: Jets -3.5

Total: 42.5

The Jets are sputtering with four losses in their last five games, but the Dolphins haven’t been much better recently. This game should be decided on the ground, where the Jets should be able to take Miami’s 31st-ranked run defence to task.

Pick against the spread: Jets -3.5

Minnesota Vikings at Atlanta Falcons

Point spread: Falcons -2.5 / Falcons -2

Total: 46

The matchup to watch here is Minnesota’s No. 2-ranked rushing attack going against the NFL’s best run defence. If that ends in a stalemate you have to go with the best playmaker and that’s unquestionably Julio Jones.

Pick against the spread: Falcons -2.5

New Orleans Saints at Houston Texans

Point spread: Texans -3

Total: 47.5

The Texans have won three in a row, but if this into a shootout, the Saints have the major edge. New Orleans dropped two straight before going on its bye so this is a huge game. Sean Payton will have a strong game plan ready for Drew Brees this week.

Pick against the spread: Saints +3

New York Giants at Washington

Point spread: Giants -2

Total: 46.5

The Giants are a tough team to get a read on as they’ve alternated wins and losses for the last month. They have covered the number in three of their last four though and should be fresh off their bye.

Pick against the spread: Giants -2

Oakland Raiders at Tennessee Titans

Point spread: Raiders -2

Total: 44

You have to wonder where the Titans would be with any semblance of a running game. While rookie Marcus Mariota shows real promise, Tennessee will be stuck in neutral until it finds someone to pick up some yardage on the ground.

Pick against the spread: Raiders -2

San Diego Chargers at Jacksonville Jaguars

If the Chargers weren’t a stay-away team before last week, a 33-3 loss at Kansas City confirmed it. They simply can’t be trusted.

Point spread: Jaguars -4

Total: 46.5

St. Louis Rams at Cincinnati Bengals

Point spread: Bengals -9 / Bengals -9.5

Total: 42.5

The fact that the Bengals went toe-to-toe with the Cardinals is more telling than the fact that they’ve lost consecutive games. As long as Cincinnati can contain Todd Gurley to a few big gains on the ground, this one shouldn’t be close.

Pick against the spread: Bengals -9

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Indianapolis Colts

Point spread: Colts -3

Total: 47

Jameis Winston got all the ink in Week 11 with five touchdown passes, but Doug Martin deserves a lot of the credit for Tampa Bay’s recent success. He ran for 235 yards on 27 attempts against Philadelphia and should be in for another big day against Indy’s leaky run defence.

Pick against the spread: Buccaneers +3

Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers

Point spread: Cardinals -10 / Cardinals -10.5

Total: 44.5 / 45

The San Francisco 49ers have scored a total of 39 points in their last four games. The Cardinals might get 39 before the half on Sunday.

Pick against the spread: Cardinals -10

Pittsburgh Steelers at Seattle Seahawks

Point spread: Seahawks -5 / Seahawks -4.5

Total: 44.5

The Steelers coming off a bye to rest their bumps and bruises are a scary team. Antonio Brown and Pittsburgh’s air attack will give the Seahawks’ secondary everything it can handle in this one. Seattle hasn’t been as good against the run this year and that should set up play-action opportunities.

Pick against the spread: Steelers +5

Sunday Night Football

New England Patriots at Denver Broncos

Point spread: Patriots -3

Total: 44.5

This matchup just doesn’t feel the same when it isn’t Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning, though Denver’s backup Brock Osweiler definitely gives Denver a better chance offensively. While you wonder if injuries will catch up to the Patriots eventually, it’s hard to pass up on the Pats at -3.

Pick against the spread: Patriots -3

Monday Night Football

Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns

Point spread: Browns -2 / Browns -2.5

Total: 41.5

The Ravens’ injury situation went from bad to worse in Week 11 with Joe Flacco and Justin Forsett hitting the shelf. There aren’t many teams in the NFL with enough depth to lose their starting quarterback and running back without seeing a major decrease in production the following week. Baltimore had depth issues to begin with.

Pick against the spread: Browns -2
