NFL Preview: Packers Will Take Control
Lovie Smith has done a great job getting Chicago to 2-0 but Al Dannity sees the Bears’ winning streak coming to an end on Monday Night Football.
Green Bay will be too strong for Chicago
The Bears managed to beat Dallas by stopping the run and forcing the Cowboys to over-rely on their passing game. This Monday they will look to do the same but against a quarterback far more efficient than Tony Romo. In Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay has a signal caller who will make decisions faster and with more accuracy than almost any other quarterback in the NFL. Simply forcing the Packers to throw won’t be enough for Chicago because Aaron Rodgers will find a way to beat them that way.
Instead the Bears will need to work on fixing their own offense. Jay Cutler has been solid at quarterback, despite having no protection from his offensive line, but the run game has been non-existent. It’s tough to see that changing this week given the persistent problems Chicago has in creating holes for their running backs. Mike Martz has done a good job in working around this by involving Matt Forte more in the passing game but that will only get the Bears so far.
I like Green Bay to look strong this week. After a shootout win over Philadelphia and a comfortable victory against Buffalo, this is a game where the Packers will push the tempo on both sides of the ball. Look for Green Bay to win big at -3.0 with Sports Interaction.
Could Minnesota go 0-3?
The Vikings aren’t good, at least not yet, but could they possibly lose to the Lions? Detroit narrowly lost in both of their first two games but I don’t see this game being quite as close. Minnesota still has aspirations of making the post-season so starting the season with three losses simply won’t do. While the offense has looked weak without Sidney Rice, it’s still far stronger than what Detroit brings to the table.
There is also the issue of the emotional drain those two losses will have taken on the Lions. Nobody expects Detroit to win but losing tight games is still heartbreaking. NFL betting fans should keep an eye on how Detroit starts this game. If the Lions get in a hole early, this could get very ugly. I like Minnesota to get out of the gate quickly and take control of the game. The Lions will get better but not this week. Bet on Minnesota at -11.0 with Sports Interaction.
