Monday Night Football features Tampa Bay and Carolina, Thursday Night Football sees Oakland take on the Chargers while Sunday includes Super Bowl hopefuls the Steelers and the Cowboys.
As the field rounds the quarter pole this NFL regular season, this weekend’s slate of games includes many matchups with playoff implications. But somehow the NFL Network features two teams going nowhere on its Thursday night national broadcast, matching the 3-9 Oakland Raiders and 4-8 San Diego Chargers (8:15pm Eastern).
How bad is Oakland? On the Week 14 NFL betting board SportsInteraction.com is listing the Raiders, who lost at home to a 2-10 Kansas City team last weekend, as 10-point road underdogs to a team that’s lost three games in a row and five of its last six.
The Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers have met in three Super Bowls over the years, and they could meet again in the Big Game this February down in Tampa. However, they’ll also meet for sure Sunday at Heinz Field (4:15pm Eastern, Fox). SportsInteraction is listing the 9-3 Steelers as 3-point home favorites over 8-4 Dallas, with a total of 41.5 points.
And this week’s Monday night matchup features 9-3 NFC South rivals Tampa Bay and Carolina in Charlotte. The two teams are tied atop the division, a game ahead of 8-4 Atlanta, and both look well on their way to the playoffs.
SportsInteraction.com is listing Carolina as 3-point home chalk for Monday’s game against Tampa Bay (8:30pm Eastern, ESPN), with a total of 38 points. SI is also posting the upstart Falcons as 3-point road underdogs for their game at 6-6 New Orleans on Sunday (1pm Eastern, Fox).
So far this season, home teams are 7-7 against the spread on Monday nights, and the favorite/underdog split is also 7-7 ATS. The trend on the totals, however, leans heavily toward one side, as 11 of the 14 Monday night games have gone over.
