New York Jets NFL Prediction: 2019 Season Preview and Odds

The Jets struggled through most of the 2018 season, finishing 4-12, last place in the AFC East. That promptly led to the franchise clearing out the entire coaching staff, and later, it’s General Manager Mike Maccagnan.

New General Manager Joe Douglas and Head Coach Adam Gase hope Sophomore Quarterback Sam Darnold takes the next step. Darnold is a massive longshot to win NFL MVP paying +10900 at Sports Interaction, but if the team has any success if will likely be because of him. That success however, is unlikely to happen during the 2019 season, as the team continues to take small steps in re-building the franchise. The team is young, with only eight players on the 90-man roster over the age of 30.

New York Jets Acquisitions and Moves

The Jets hit a home run in free agency this winter bringing in Pro-Bowl running back Le’Veon Bell. After sitting out the entire 2018 season, Bell will be a workhorse, used in all situations. At Sports Interaction he is currently paying +1200 to win the league’s rushing title behind only Ezekiel Elliott, Saquon Barkley, and Todd Gurley.

Four-time pro-bowl CJ Mosley joins the team after leaving a solid Ravens defence. Mosley is paying +5000 to capture Defensive MVP honours. Wide receivers Jamison Crowder and Josh Bellamy will give Sam Darnold a couple extra targets, while Trevor Siemian was signed as a back-up to Darnold. With the third pick in the draft, the Jets drafted Defensive Lineman Quinnen Williams from Alabama. Williams is a +700 favourite to capture the Defensive Rookie of the year award.

New York Jets Prediction

The Jets were outscored by a total of 108 points over 16 games last season, and finished 1-5 in an overall weak division. Sam Darnold and Le’Veon Bell gives Gang Green alot of hope this season, but to topple the Patriots this season isn’t in the cards. The Jets finish second in the division out of the playoffs with a 7-9 record.
