New York Giants NFL Prediction: 2019 Season Preview and Odds

David Bastl | Updated Aug 29, 2019

Running back Saquon Barkley is ranked 2nd at Sports Interaction’s NFL props board for most yards rushing, at +310 only behind Ezekiel Elliott of the Cowboys. He is the number one threat in the Giants offence.

Coming off a 5-11 season in 2018, 2019 doesn’t look much brighter for the New York Giants. This upcoming season will likely be Eli Manning’s last NFL season, as the 38 year-old Quarterback has seen better days, and the heir apparent is now in place. It will be interesting to see how well Running back Saquon Barkley does, as he might be the only Giant worth watching – and what a watch he is likely to be. Barkley is ranked second at Sports Interaction’s NFL props board for most yards rushing, at +310 only behind Ezekiel Elliott of the Cowboys. You can also grab him at +4200 to win the league’s MVP title.

New York Giants Acquisitions and Moves

Its more about who left, then who has joined the team for the Giants. In maybe the most publicized trades in some time, gone is Pro-Bowl receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and pass-rusher Olivier Vernon to the Cleveland Browns in separate trades. Also, Safety Landon Collins joined Washington after the Giants refused to place the franchise tag on the 25 year-old. The team did bolster its offensive line by acquiring Guard Kevin Zeitler and re-signing Center Spencer Pulley. The team also welcomed Receiver Golden Tate, Safeties Jabrill Peppers, Antonio Bethea, and edge rusher Markus Golden.

The Giants used a first round pick to select Duke Quarterback Daniel Jones. Now Jones isn’t expected to start the season, but could take over sooner than we think. Jones is currently listed at +2100 at Sports Interaction to be the Offensive Rookie of the Year.

New York Giants 2019 NFL Schedule

The Giants are tied for 27th in strength of schedule. Opponents they face this year were a combined 120-134-2, for a winning percentage of .473 last season. Only the Redskins have an easier schedule (on paper) then the G-Men. The Giants open the regular season in Dallas against the Cowboys, then face three opponents Bills, Bucs, and Redskins with similar records to their last season.

Circle the week ten game on November 10, as it’s a battle of New York, when the Giants meet the host Jets in week 10. They don’t return to action until November 24 because of a bye week on week 11.

New York Giants Prediction

Outside of Saquon Barkley the Giants have too many questions throughout the roster. The biggest question mark; who will take the majority of the snaps this season? Many insiders say a best-case scenario would be that Daniel Jones gains valuable experience and shows signs of development throughout the season. Because of this expect the Giants to go under its 6.5-win total, and finish last in the division. Prediction: 5-11 regular season.
