Los Angeles Chargers Place Khalil Mack on IR, Sign Clelin Ferrell
The Los Angeles Chargers have placed edge rushing specialist Khalil Mack on Injured Reserve. The team announced the move after Mack sustained a dislocated elbow during the Week 2’s 20-9 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.
Mack started the club’s first two games of the year, recording one sack and two combined tackles.The 34-year-old registered six sacks, 39 combined tackles, and nine passes defended across 16 games in the 2024 season. Since entering the league, he has played in 169 games, recording 108.5 sacks and 632 combined tackles.

To fill Mack’s spot, the Chargers also announced the signing of former first-round pick Clelin Ferrell.
The defensive end was drafted fourth overall in 2019 and has 57 NFL starts under his belt with 10 of those coming last year with Washington. The 28-year-old had 26 total tackles and 3.5 sacks with the Commanders and will now be expected to slide into a starting role with the Chargers as they face the Denver Broncos. The Chargers are set as 3-point home favourites on the NFL odds board with the total at 44.
