Jaguars vs. Colts Point Spread: NFL Week 7 Odds, Prediction
It might be early, but Sunday’s AFC south encounter between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts could create some separation in the crowded standings. The Jaguars are in a three-way tie with Houston and Tennessee atop the table, with Indianapolis one game back. Jacksonville will look to rebound from a disappointing 10-point home loss to the Rams, and will try to take advantage of its favorite status for the first time this season.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Indianapolis Colts
Point spread: Colts +3
Date: Sunday, October 22, 1 p.m. ET
Location: Lucas Oil Field, Indianapolis, Ind.
Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Colts are getting a field goal in this one with starting quarterback Andrew Luck expected to be out at least through this week. Indianapolis has been a solid bounce-back team in recent history, covering in seven of nine weeks after failing to cover the previous game. The Jags are favorites for the third time in 2017, and are hoping to actually come away with a win; they fell 23-20 to the Jets in Week 4 as a 3-point fave, and were 1-point faves against the Rams.
With regard to the total, both Jacksonville and Indianapolis have been involved in higher-scoring games this season than oddsmakers had anticipated; the Jags are 4-2 O/U for the year, while the Colts have played to the over in five of six games. But it’s a much different story when these teams meet at Lucas Oil Field; they’ve gone under in six straight meetings there, with three of those games producing fewer than 30 total points.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette is expected to play despite suffering an ankle injury in the loss to the Rams. Fournette ranks second in the NFL in rushing yards and already has six rushing scores on the season; he had 130 yards and a TD versus Los Angeles. But his star performance in Week 6 might not bode well for Jacksonville, which has covered just twice in its last nine after racking up more than 150 total rushing yards in its previous game.
Indianapolis Colts
With 30 covers in 40 games after losing straight-up the previous week, bettors should expect a better effort this week than the one the Colts gave in the second half of Monday’s 36-22 loss to host Tennessee. But it’s hard to have faith in a team surrendering a league-worst 32.5 points per game while producing just over 300 total yards of offense, ranking in the bottom six in the NFL. It’s clear that Luck can’t get back quickly enough.
