How to Bet NFL Week 3: Cowboys vs. Ravens is a must-win for both teams

After eight underdog teams won outright last week, we're back with picks on props, spreads and futures ahead of Week 3 in the NFL.

Survivor pools took an unprecedented hit last week as underdogs feasted on their opponents.

Will the bloodbath continue in Week 3? Let’s take at the week ahead in the NFL and some picks to circle for the biggest games.

Thursday Night Football: Patriots at Jets

Rhamondre Stevenson has had a monster start to the season, rushing for 120 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against Cincinnati and adding 80 yards and another score last week against Seattle. That said, I’m fading Stevenson this week against Aaron Rodgers and the Jets.

The Jets defensive line is one of the strongest in the NFL and New England is a one-dimensional attack that relies too much on Stevenson. I think he’ll struggle to find openings and fail to hit a lofty goal of 66-plus rushing yards.

Week 3 pick: Rhamondre Stevenson Under 65.5 rushing yards

Ravens at Cowboys

This is a heavyweight battle between two teams who desperately need an early-season win. Largely because of bad luck, the Ravens are still searching for their first win of the season, while Dallas was just embarrassed by the Saints at home last week. Between the two teams, Baltimore needs the win more and I think they’ll get it.

You can argue the Ravens didn’t deserve to lose their first two games as they out-gained Kansas City and Las Vegas by a combined 222 yards and they’ve forced as many turnovers as they have given up. The Cowboys have been one of the worst teams against the rush this season and that will make the difference for Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry and the run-heavy Ravens.

Week 3 pick: Ravens -1

Sunday Night Football: Chiefs at Falcons

One story flying under the radar in the NFL right now is Kansas City’s struggle to contain opposing tight ends. The Chiefs have allowed almost 100 more yards to opposing tight ends than any other team in the league, including a tight end touchdown.

With seven targets and six receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown, Atlanta’s Kyle Pitts hasn’t had a remarkable start to the season, but I like him to be a presence against KC. Kirk Cousins will connect with Pitts at least four times for the second straight game.

Week 3 pick: Kyle Pitts Over 3.5 receptions

Monday Night Football: Jaguars at Bills

I’m all over Josh Allen and the 2-0 Bills against Trevor Lawrence and the winless Jacksonville Jaguars in the first Monday night game. Allen has thrown for a combined 371 yards and three TDs in the first two games of the season and he has 20 passing TDs in eight career Monday Night Football appearances.

This is also a very disappointing Jaguars squad. Lawrence has struggled with a 51 per cent completion rate and he only has one passing TD on the year. Jacksonville ranks bottom-10 in the league in most major offensive and defensive categories, so I can’t see them containing Allen or penetrating Buffalo’s defence.

Week 3 pick: Bills -5.5

Monday Night Football: Commanders at Bengals

It’s too soon to call Chicago’s Caleb Williams a bust, but the early results aren’t promising. That leaves a wide open race for Offensive Rookie of the Year. Unlike MVP, OROY isn’t necessarily a quarterback award, but I still like Commanders signal caller Jayden Daniels to win.

Daniels has looked great through two games, sporting a 75.5 completion percentage while throwing for 410 total yards. He doesn’t have a passing touchdown yet, but he has run in two scores and rushed for an additional 132 yards. Right now Daniels projects to finish with around 3,500 passing yards, but I think those passing stats will increase as he becomes more comfortable.

Week 3 pick: Jayden Daniels wins Offensive Rookie of the Year
