How Does TE Travis Kelce’s Knee Injury Affect the Chiefs’ Odds?
Preparations for the opening game of the 2023 NFL season could not have gone any worse for the Kansas City Chiefs. Superstar tight end Travis Kelce hyperextended his knee. His participation in Thursday night’s game against the visiting Detroit Lions is far from guaranteed.
To that effect, at the time of publication, Kansas City’s status as the favourite has taken a hit on the NFL odds. They were pegged at -6.5 but that figure has been adjusted downward to -4.5 as of Wednesday, September 6 in the afternoon.
Chiefs’ Travis Kelce Injures Knee, May Not Play Against Lions
Andy Reid has been relatively mum on the details as to what happened. We know that the injury bug bit during Tuesday’s final workout.
Kelce’s durability has been one of the hallmarks of his already illustrious career. Not since 2013 has an injury prevented him from partaking in a competitive match. In 2022 he caught his most passes ever with 110, which translated to his second-highest yardage at 1,338. His 12 touchdowns were also a career-best.
Noah Gray and Blake Bell are the other active TEs on the roster.
