It'll be Geno Smith starting under centre in Week 13 instead of Eli Manning.

If you thought the New York Giants were a mess before, now they’re a real calamity. They’ve decided to bench two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning for Geno Smith on Sunday. The Oakland Raiders must be loving every minute of this. Can they take care of business on Sunday and earn their fourth win in six games?

New York Giants vs. Oakland Raiders

Point Spread: Oakland -7 Date: Sunday December 3rd, 2017 – 4:25 PM ET Location: Coliseum, Oakland, California

Point Spread And Betting Analysis

Oakland’s record against the spread is similar to their straight up record as they are 4-6-1 ATS so far this season. Meanwhile, the Giants have actually been better against the spread than they have been straight up as they are now 4-7-1 ATS compared to 2-9 SU. The Raiders are listed as 7.5-point home favorites on the NFL odds board for this week’s game.

New York Giants

It has been a year to forget for New York. This year’s edition of the Giants has the potential to rank among the worst in franchise history. New York is coming off another tough loss on the road in Washington to fall to 2-9 on the season. The Giants own the second-worst scoring offense in the NFL. They also rank in the bottom-third of the league in points allowed per game. And after all of that, they’ve decided to bench Manning, who has been the face of the franchise. Yes, he’s struggled. However, he’s had little help around him. And while there have been all sorts of poor decisions around him, he hasn’t complained once but now he’s the scapegoat.

It’s hard to say what this move will do to the psyche of the team. They had seemed to have quit on the season but had once again been competitive in the last two weeks. Now all of the sudden they might quit again if they don’t agree with the move.

Oakland Raiders

The Raiders have had their share of highs and lows this season but remain in the thick of the AFC Wild Card hunt heading in to Week 13. Derek Carr has thrown for 2,444 yards and 16 touchdowns with eight interceptions. However, he might be without his top two wide receiver targets this Sunday. Oakland still has some capable weapons in Seth Roberts and Cordarelle Patterson. They also have two healthy running backs in Marshawn Lynch and Jalen Richard. The Giants run defense ranks second-last in the NFL. Oakland has struggled to run it all season long but if they can get that going, that would make this win quite easy.

The bottom line here is the Giants just want their season to end while the Raiders need a win. In other circumstances, an upset might have been in the cards but the Giants won’t have much interest being involved in this one. They’re ready to quit on their coach and the season, which will be to Oakland’s benefit.
