Falcons vs. Cowboys Point Spread: NFL Week 10 Odds, Prediction

Dallas is looking for a bounce-back game after their six-game win streak was snapped in a 30-16 home loss against Denver last week.  The Cowboys, who were double-digit favourites, failed to cover for the first time this season.  Atlanta is riding high after a 27-25 road win in New Orleans brought the Falcons back to .500 on the season.

Dallas is a 9.5-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with a total of 55.0.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

These teams met once last year, with the Cowboys pulling out a 40-39 win at home.  That big score is one of the reasons this game has the highest total of the week.  Sports Interaction bettors are nearly split down the middle on the Over/Under.  With such a large spread, the Falcons are getting about 60 per cent of the action, but expect that 9.5 number to get bet down closer to Sunday.

The Falcons have been much better on the road than at home this season, going 3-1 outside of Atlanta compared to 1-3 at Mercedes Benz Stadium.  They’re 4-4 against the spread overall, covering in three of four road contests.  The Falcons have also covered in four of their last five games against Dallas.  The total has gone Over in four of Atlanta’s last five games overall.

As mentioned, last week’s loss snapped the Cowboys’ six-game win streak.  Dallas has been a bettors dream this year, covering in seven of eight total games.  The total has gone Over in 10 of the Cowboys’ last 15 home games, including three of four this season.

Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta’s third win in their last four games didn’t come without drama last week.  The Falcons blew a 24-6 lead against New Orleans and trailed 25-24 in the dying minutes before a last minute field goal earned the win.  Matt Ryan threw for 343 yards and two touchdowns, while adding another score on the ground.  Olamide Zaccheaus hauled in both receiving TDs, but it was Cordarrelle Patterson who stood out.  Patterson had 126 receiving yards on six catches, including a late 64-yard play that set up the winning field goal.  He leads the team in both catches and TDs.

Calvin Ridley, Atlanta’s top receiver last season, remains away from the team as he deals with his mental health.  There’s no timeline for Ridley’s return.  Cornerback Kendall Sheffield hasn’t practiced this week after leaving last week’s game with a hamstring injury.  Outside linebacker Dante Fowler (knee) is eligible to return this week, although he hasn’t been listed on the Falcons’ official depth chart.

Dallas Cowboys

Dak Prescott returned last week after missing one game with a calf strain, but it’s fair to wonder if the injury was still bothering him as it was Dallas’ worst offensive performance of the season.  Prescott completed just six of his first 19 pass attempts and the Cowboys were scoreless until the final five minutes of the game.  Dallas was an abysmal 0-for-4 on fourth down and finished with a season-low 290 yards.  Prescott eventually finished 19-of-39 for 232 passing yards, two touchdowns and an interception.  Malik Turner caught both of the Cowboys’ touchdowns and finished with 33 yards on five receptions.

The key to this week’s game is the status of Ezekiel Elliott.  Elliott rushed for a team-best 55 yards on 10 carries last week, but he noticeably limped to the sidelines multiple times.  He’s been dealing with a knee injury and could be limited in this game.
