Eagles vs. Chiefs Point Spread: NFL Week 2 Odds, Prediction

It’s Andy Reid vs. one of his understudies. A lot can be said about that first statement because Reid has graduated no less than 9 former coaches to Head Coaches. This week he faces another one, in former offensive coordinator, now Eagles Head Coach Doug Peterson (Chiefs O.C. 2013-15). It should be noted that Reid has an 8 and 3 record when facing one of his former assistants. Both of these teams are looking to stay perfect on the season after opening week wins.

Point Spread: Chiefs -4.5 Date: Sunday, September 17, 1:00pm ET Location: Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO

Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This will be the seventh time these two teams have played each other in the history of both franchises. The Chiefs have the slight edge in terms of wins at 4-3. They haven’t played each other since 2013, during the Eagles’ Chip Kelly era. The Chiefs won the game 26-16 in Reid’s first game back at Lincoln Financial Field after being fired by the Eagles following the 2012 season. The Eagles are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against the Chiefs, and also 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against teams with a winning record.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs were outstanding in the league opener last Thursday night in Foxborough stunning the Patriots 42-27. Alex Smith threw for 368 yards and 4 touchdowns, while rookie Kareem Hunt manufactured 246 all-purpose yards and 2 touchdowns. But the win came at an expense, with the loss of All-Pro Safety Eric Berry. Berry ruptured his Achilles tendon and is expected to miss the entire season.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles flew over the Redskins 30-17 in week 1. Carson Wentz used 9 different receivers in passing for 307 yards and 2 touchdowns in the victory. Both CB Ronald Darby (dislocated ankle) and K Caleb Sturgis (hip) will miss this game. The Eagles offence should be able to take advantage of a Chiefs team shorthanded in the secondary (Eric Berry). Look for a bounce back game from receiver Alshon Jeffrey who had just 38 yards on 3 catches in week 1.
