Even though it’s been a lopsided result in the last couple of years on the scoreboard, these two franchises have provided football fans one of the best rivalries in sports.

Now, although it is early in the season, these two teams battle for top spot in the NFC East. Oddsmakers at Sports Interaction have Washington listed as 2-point favorites.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

For as good as the Cowboys have been on home turf (3-0) they have been dreadful on the road (0-3) this season. That being said, it’s a different story when they go to Washington. Dallas has won the last five games in Washington, and is also 4-0 against the spread over the last four games in DC. In the last 10 games against the Redskins, the Cowboys are 8-2. Head-to-head in the last eight games, the road team is an impressive 7-1 ATS. Of note, dating back to last season, the Cowboys are 4-0 ATS in their last four games.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys hope to build momentum off of their thrashing of the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday afternoon. It may have been one of their better games in the last number of years as they dismantled the Jags 40-7. Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 106 yards on 24 carries, and continues to lead the league’s number two ranked rushing team. The big story was the play of quarterback Dak Prescott. The passing numbers weren’t average, 17-of-27 for 183 yards, but he also rushed the ball for 82 yards on 11 carries, and made a lot of key throws, and key third down conversations (7 for 17 on third down).

Prescott’s number one target was Cole Beasley. Beasley had nine catches for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Beasley was dominating. The seven other Dallas Cowboys that caught balls in this game combined for eight catches for 82 yards. Also, middle linebacker Leighton Vander Esch has played well the last two games while defensive captain Sean Lee is out. He’s recorded 18 tackles and five assists over that time.

Washington Redskins

After five games, the Redskins are still holding onto first place in the NFC East, a surprise too many, as the team was picked by many to finish at the bottom of the division. The team is looking for a bounce back win against the Panthers after getting waxed by the Saints a couple Monday nights ago.

Quarterback Alex Smith continues to manage the offence, this time around throwing for 163 yards and two touchdowns. While Adrian Peterson has stopped time, as the 33-year old dashed for 97 yards on 17 carries and continues to look like the Adrian Peterson of five years ago.
