The Eagles and Cowboys are the past two winners of the NFC East – no team has won that division in back-to-back seasons since Philadelphia won a fourth straight in 2004. It’s going to be tough for Monday’s loser to win it with the Washington Redskins off to a 5-3 start.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

These teams play again on Dec. 9 in Dallas (well, Arlington). Last year, the clubs split – under very different circumstances. The first meeting was at AT&T Stadium and the Cowboys were clobbered 37-9. That was during a stretch the Cowboys were offensively horrific without suspended star running back Ezekiel Elliott. Dallas had 225 yards and four turnovers in that one, while Philly got two TD passes from Carson Wentz and rushed for 215 yards and two touchdowns.

In the 2017 regular-season finale, Dallas won 6-0 in Philadelphia. The Cowboys had been eliminated from the playoffs and the Eagles were locked into the NFC’s top seed so they either rested their key guys or played them only briefly. Thus, take nothing from that result other than the game was unwatchable.

The favourite has covered the past five in the series. The total has gone under in seven of the past 10.

Dallas Cowboys

Short week for Dallas as on Monday it was upset as a 4.5-point home favourite Monday by Tennessee, 28-14. Go ahead and call that a “playoff-killing” defeat, not that the Cowboys were all that likely to make it. We are half-surprised Coach Jason Garrett is still employed today; owner/GM Jerry Jones simply said after the game he wouldn’t be making an “in-season change.” i.e., Garrett won’t be the coach next year.

WR Amari Cooper made his Dallas debut (the more the Cowboys lose, the better for Oakland as it owns their 2019 first-round pick) and had five catches for 58 yards and a TD. The Cowboys, though, kept shooting themselves in the foot with mistakes and had only 108 yards in the second half. It was Dallas’ first home loss of the year, and they’ve yet to win on the road.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles come off their bye week with some major momentum. Not only did they beat Jacksonville 24-18 in London in Week 8 to get back to .500, but the front office added an excellent weapon for Wentz in Detroit Lions receiver Golden Tate before last Tuesday’s trade deadline. The Eagles have been just so-so running the ball and lost top tailback Jay Ajayi to a season-ending injury, so they pretty clearly will be pass-happy the rest of the way.

Tate is one of the NFL’s better slot receivers and had 44 catches for 517 yards and three scores this season. Wentz how has a terrific pass-catching trio of Tate, Alshon Jeffery and one of the NFL’s best tight ends in Zach Ertz. Wentz already is among the NFL’s completion leaders at 70.7 per cent.
