Cardinals vs. Seahawks Point Spread: NFL Week 7 Odds, Prediction
Arizona, under first-year coach Jonathan Gannon, is navigating rocky waters as best it can, but things are looking glum, especially after the 26-9 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday. As for the Seattle Seahawks, the jury is still out as to whether their decent 2022 was a one-off year or not. Week 6’s disappointing 17-13 to the Bengals has only made things more confusing.
The Seahawks are still viewed as considerable favourites in this particular matchup, as the NFL odds have them at -7.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Washington State-based outfit rides a three-game winning streak over its rivals, dating to the end of the 2021-2022 season. The last two games were decided by 10 points, making for relatively comfortable victories. Conversely, the Cardinals have won two of the last four games played in Seattle, so they aren’t afraid to play in one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL.
Despite what the 1-5 record in the standings indicates, the Cardinals have fared better against the spread, going 3-3 through six weeks. Having said that, they started the year with three successes, only to fail the next trio of opportunities. What was a frisky unit for a few weeks is maybe starting to trail off.
Concerning Seattle, their 3-2 straight-up record is reflected in their 3-2 effort ATS. More specifically, when they win they cover and when they lose they don’t cover. After three games for which the over earned the spoils, the under has connected twice.
Arizona Cardinals
Week 6 in L.A. against the Rams was a microcosm of how the early part of the season has gone for the Arizona Cardinals. They started well enough, although one wouldn’t know it just by looking at the 26-9 final score that favoured the Rams.
Arizona’s defensive front line did its side proud for much of the first half, putting tons of pressure on Rams QB Matthew Stafford and sacking him three times. When the clubs returned to the dressing room for recess, it was a field goal battle, with the Cards leading 9-6. A great performance? No, but good enough to maybe steal a road win. Then the second half happened and almost nothing went right. The secondary was burned time and again by stud WR Cooper Kupp and all the yards accumulated (345 yards in total) didn’t amount to more points. They had nine at the break and they ended the match with nine. RB James Conner’s absence was sorely felt given that QB Josh Dobbs led the team in rushing and having quality targets like TE Zach Ertz and WR Marquise Brown simply hasn’t helped in recent weeks.
S Budda Baker (hamstring) may be off IR this week.
Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks are a curious outfit to watch and analyze. They can look like an incredibly fun team that goes into Detroit and beats the Lions in a touchdown festival, but also the one that practically lays an egg in Cincinnati, as they did last week.
Perhaps this is the true Geno Smith experience. It’s not as if the 2022 version of the team headed into the playoffs riding plenty of momentum, and the inconsistencies have continued in 2023. The 17-13 defeat to the Bengals started in such a manner that suggested the Seahawks had come to play hard. Kenneth Walker got the first points on the board for a 7-0 lead, only for Smith, DK MetCalf, Tyler Lockett and company to muster but six points the rest of the way. That they tallied an impressive 381 yards and 24 first downs (Cincy had 15) meant little because the Seahawks continuously stalled after marching down the field. Smith suffered four sacks, which doesn’t sound like a lot but they usually happened at the worst possible moments. An all-around frustrating day at the office since the game was there for the taking.
CB Coby Bryant (toe) is on IR.
