The Colts continue their quest to survive without starting quarterback Andrew Luck when they host the Cardinals on Sunday. The Cardinals hope they can pick a road win and return home without losing another key player to injury.
Indianapolis Colts at Arizona Cardinals
Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Cardinals opened as 7.5-point road favourites (-110) on the Sports Interaction NFL odds board. The Colts are now 0-2 straight up and against the spread, and have been outscored 74-16 in the last two games Scott Tolzien has started at quarterback. Indy is also 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games in September.
Arizona surrendered 35 points last week against the Lions and have allowed 30 or more points in four of their last eight games. The Over is 8-0 in those last eight games for the Cards.
Almost 90 percent of Sports Interaction users like the Cards to cover as 7.5-point favourites against the Colts.
Indy head coach Chuck Pagano is splitting first-team snaps in practice between quarterbacks Scott Tolzien and former New England Patriot third stringer Jacoby Brissett. Sounds like Pagano will be making a decision as to who starts later in the week.
Tolzien was terrible at Los Angeles in Week 1 against the Rams. He gifted the home team 14 points by tossing two pick-sixes. Many bettors thought the New York Jets or Cleveland Browns would be the worst team this season. But after a 37-point loss to the Rams, Colts fans are saying “hold my beer”.
Arizona lost its best offensive weapon when running back David Johnson dislocated his wrist on the field in Detroit. Johnson is an every-down back who was just as dangerous in the passing game as he was on the rushing the ball. The injury is especially troubling considering how turnover prone quarterback Carson Palmer has recently been. The Lions picked off Palmer three times in Week 1 and the veteran held a 1.9 TD to INT ratio a year ago.
