Cardinals vs. 49ers Point Spread: NFL Week 9 Odds, Prediction
The Arizona Cardinals were the last undefeated team left in the league before their unfortunate loss against the Green Bay Packers last week. Now they look to get themselves back on track against their division rivals, the San Francisco 49ers. San Francisco just picked up a nice win over the Chicago Bears but has been wildly inconsistent this season. Which team holds the upper hand heading into this one?
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Arizona is 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 20-7 ATS in their past 27 matchups when going up against a team on the road who has a losing home record. November hasn’t been kind to this squad, though, as they sit just 0-4-1 ATS in their last five games during the month.
Meanwhile, San Francisco is just 2-6-1 ATS in their past nine games in November and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games played at home. The over has been good for them, though, cashing out in five of their last six games when coming into the matchup with a straight up win in the previous contest.
Arizona Cardinals
We all know that this Arizona offense is phenomenal but that’s with Kyler Murray on the field. A lot of that changes dramatically if he’s out. Murray is suffering from a variety of minor injuries but the team is heavily considering holding him out of this game. Colt McCoy will take over starting duties in that case and could be without the veteran center Rodney Hudson as well. As of now, all we know is that Murray is “progressing” through his injuries.
This whole offense will be different without Kyler but they are hoping that DeAndre Hopkins can return to full strength to give McCoy a little less pressure. Defensively, they are still a pretty strong group but are going to be without J.J. Watt for the remainder of the season, which could hurt them in the long run. This definitely won’t be the same Cardinals team we have seen. It’s unclear if last week was an aberration or the start of a downtrend.
San Francisco 49ers
Rookie quarterback Trey Lance is likely to remain on the bench after a strong showing from the veteran Jimmy Garoppolo last week. Garoppolo and the 49ers offense was sloppy in the first half but he led the way to the win in the second half. This week, the main focus will again be a lot of designed run plays from Elijah Mitchell and some read options. Deebo Samuel will also need to be involved as he has been on fire all year long, sitting in the top five in receiving yards in the league. George Kittle has also been rumored to have a chance to play in this game after missing the last couple of games with his own injury. They have a serious chance to upset this Arizona team and hand them their second straight loss.
