The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have looked competitive while splitting its two exhibition games but the problems from last season appear to still be issues right now. They can’t run the ball and the quarterback play is inconsistent. They’ll have another chance to work on it when they host the Cleveland Browns in Week 3.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Cleveland Browns at Tampa Bay Buccanneers

  • Tampa Bay Buccanneers -101

Cleveland is coming off back-to-back wins over the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Redskins to open the preseason. First-year head coach Freddie Kitchens is intent on establishing some positivity and confidence during the exhibition season and he’s certainly off to a great start.

The Buccaneers pulled off a 16-14 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 1 of the preseason, then lost 30-28 to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2. Arians is 10-13 all-time in exhibition action. His teams are 2-3 in Week 3 of the preseason.

Cleveland Browns

The Browns have looked crisp through two preseason games. Baker Mayfield completed 5-of-6 pass attempts for 77 yards and a touchdown in last week’s 30-10 win over Washington. He could have a pair of shiny new weapons to throw to this week if Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry are in the lineup. Running back Nick Chubb could see more snaps after getting one touch for 12 yards against the Redskins.

The Cleveland defense has held its first two exhibition opponents to an average of 14.0 points per game. With the starters set to play more in Week 3, the Browns could be in for another strong defensive performance again on Friday night.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Arians clearly wasn’t kidding when he said that he was going to limit Winston’s preseason snaps in Week 2. Winston went 2-of-4 for 24 yards with a five-yard scramble in a 30-28 loss to the Steelers. He should get more reps against Cleveland this week.

Ryan Griffin threw for 330 yards and a touchdown while taking the bulk of the snaps against Pittsburgh. Griffin and Blaine Gabbert are competing for the backup job in Tampa Bay. Despite a good start to the preseason, it’s hard to buy in to either of those passer’s as legitimate solutions should something happen to Winston.

The Bucs defense gave up three passing touchdowns against the Steelers last week. With Cleveland expected to give its starters more playing time, the Browns might be in a good spot to put up some big points again.
