Broncos vs. Colts Point Spread: NFL Week 2 Odds, Prediction
Both teams come into Week 2 with 1-0 records that they achieved in drastically different fashions. Denver avoided a late scare in Week 1 but ultimately had their elite defence hold off Tennessee for a 20-12 Broncos victory. Daniel Jones and the Colts offence were one of the main storylines in the opening week, as they put forth a dominating 33-8 victory over Miami.
This Broncos defence is now a real test for Jones, who can either silence a lot of the critics still out there or fall back into mediocre territory and potentially hold this Colts roster back. And speaking of critics… those skeptical of Bo Nix had plenty of ammunition in Week 1 as the sophomore QB coughed up three turnovers before leaning on his defence to bail him out.
Kickoff at Lucas Oil Stadium goes at 4:05 p.m. EDT. Denver is currently a slight road favourite at -125 moneyline NFL odds, while the total is set at 42.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Unders and the Broncos might go hand-in-hand this season. The Broncos were finished third in the NFL with 19 points allowed a game last season and early indications show they can improve on this number in 2025. Denver has recently trended toward the under in the early goings of the NFL season too, as 12 of their last 15 September outings have finished under the total. The under has also hit in eight of Denver’s last nine bouts with AFC South opponents. Denver has covered in four of their last games against the Colts but are 1-7 outright in their last eight trips to Indianapolis.
The only thing stopping the under from hitting in this matchup would be a combination of two things: Daniel Jones and the Colts offence proves it’s for real, combined with some secondary injuries catching up to Indianapolis. Cornerback Charvarius Ward is in concussion protocol and backup corner Jaylon Jones will “be out for a while” with a hamstring injury, according to coach Shane Steichen.
Denver Broncos
Denver’s 63 sacks led the NFL a season ago and they are well on their way to being the top dog again. Six sacks last week for the Broncos led the way across the league, and what continues to be even more impressive is the depth the pass-rush attack has: six different Broncos notched their half-dozen sacks in Week 1. Free agent addition Talanoa Hufanga led Denver’s defence last week with 11 total tackles, while Pat Surtain II was his usual lockdown-self with zero receptions allowed.
Offensively, Bo Nix has to take care of the football. Nix threw 40 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown last week but also turned the ball over three times. J.K. Dobbins rushed a team-high 16 times for 63 yards and a touchdown in his Broncos debut. Tight end Evan Engram suffered a calf injury during the Week 1 win and was limited in practice on Wednesday.
Indianapolis Colts
The vibes are better in Indianapolis because Daniel Jones is under centre, something no one could have predicted a year ago. Jones and the Colts offence scored on all seven of their drives in Week 1, executing the kind of efficient performance that many thought this Colts offence was capable of offence with the right quarterback. Now the jury’s still out on whether Jones will be a sustainable solution, but the weapons are certainly in place for him. Michael Pittman led the way with six grabs for 80 yards and a score, while tight end Tyler Warren hauled in seven catches for 76 yards in his NFL debut. Jonathan Taylor accumulated 99 yards from scrimmage.
Defensively, Lou Anarumo came pretty close to seeing his unit pitch a shutout in his debut as the Colts defensive coordinator. Indy’s new defensive backs were active too as safety Cam Bynum came down with an early interception and veteran cornerback Xavien Howard recovered a fumble against his former team. As mentioned, both Charvarius Ward and Jaylon Jones missed Wednesday’s practice and the status of Ward is especially to take note of as the week progresses.
