Betting With Bastl: Do The Colts Rebound in Week 13?

David Bastl | Updated Dec 02, 2020

Philip Rivers, Colts, 2020

Philip Rivers has a lifetime winning percentage of .727 (8-3) against the Houston Texans.

This might be a good bounce back spot for the Colts, who were tamed last weekend by the Titans on home turf. With the loss, Indy now find themselves a game back of first place and need to make up ground in the AFC South.

The Texans are 11-5 (straight up) in their last 16 meetings against the Colts, however some of the recent trends are quite different. We’ll discuss them in our two-minute drill segment below. Plus, this is the first time the Texans will face the Philip Rivers-led Colts team this season. Rivers has a lifetime winning percentage of .727 (8-3) against Houston. He’s thrown 20 touchdowns and only five interceptions in the 11 games played.

These two teams will meet again in two weeks time. Fun fact, for teams that meet within two weeks of their first meeting, the losing team in game 1 is 18-7-1 against the spread in the follow up game. So, whoever wins this game, bet the opposite in two weeks.

NFL Week 13 Betting Two-Minute Drill

The Texans have had a lot of success against the Colts, however perhaps I can change your mind in picking them with the following.

First off, the Colts have won three of the last four games against that Texans dating back to the 2019. Then, talk about a visiting team having success in an opposition’s building; the Colts are 7-0-1 ATS in their last eight meetings in Houston. The road team in this series has been the dominate team, going 9-2-2 ATS in the last 13 games played between the two teams.

Something else to consider; the under is 6-2 in the last eight games played.

Bastl’s Bet: Colts -3

Overtime Predictions:

Enjoy the live train wreck that is the Lions and the Bears. Detroit finally parted ways with Head Coach Matt Patricia and will have Darrell Bevell patrolling the sidelines. Meanwhile, after the Bears started the season 5-1, they now have five consecutive losses and have crashed down to earth. Who can we back in this game?

Live from Arizona, it’s Monday Night Football. Yes, the 49ers will call Glendale home for at least the next two weeks, and this is a big one against the Bills. The Niners are coming off a huge win against the Rams last weekend and are getting healthier every week. Do they have enough to get past the 8-3 Bills? Buffalo is 1-1 in two games to the West coast this season.

Bastl’s Bet: Lions +4.5, 49ers -2.5
