Bengals vs. Saints Point Spread: NFL Week 6 Odds, Prediction
It’s Burrow’s first appearance at the Superdome since winning the National Championship with LSU in 2020. And it’s a chance for Andy Dalton to get some revenge against his former team in Cincinnati, as Dalton is likely to continue starting for the Saints in place of the injured Jameis Winston.
New Orleans is coming off a 39-32 victory hosting Seattle last Sunday, while the Bengals fell short in Baltimore Sunday night losing 19-17 on a last-second field goal.
Kickoff Sunday goes at 1 p.m. EDT, with the Bengals two-point favourites on the road and the over-under at 43.5 on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The under advanced to 5-0 in Cincinnati’s games this season, a streak that now has hit 10 consecutive Bengals’ outings dating back to last season. The under is also 8-4 in New Orleans’ last 12 games overall, albeit they’re coming off a season-high 39-point outing.
The Bengals defence is sitting eighth in the NFL with 17.8 points per game allowed so far, while the Saints are just outside the top 10 with 23 points per game and back-to-back games scoring at least 25 points with Dalton under centre.
Cincinnati’s also 11-2 against the spread in their last 13 outings overall, and 5-1 ATS in their last six meetings with the Saints. New Orleans is 4-11 ATS in their last 15 versus the AFC North.
Cincinnati Bengals
After a 338-yard season debut, Burrow hasn’t reached 300 passing yards again this season and was held to just 217 and a lone touchdown throw in Week 5. The Bengals still rank 12th in passing yards but that expected next step hasn’t been made by Cincinnati’s offence, yet.
A big reason is Joe Mixon and his lack of production. Mixon’s currently averaging 3.1 yards per carry on 96 rushes and has one of Cincinnati’s two rushing touchdowns this season. The Bengals are one of 11 NFL teams averaging under 100 rushing yards per game yet are 10th in rushes per game.
Tee Higgins was active with an ankle issue last week but didn’t catch a ball in the loss at Baltimore. Higgins should play in Week 6, but it’s something to monitor as injury reports roll in.
New Orleans Saints
Dalton was the starter and every-down quarterback last week, but it was the Taysom Hill show for the Saints. New Orleans’ gadget quarterback exploded for four touchdowns against Seattle, three of which coming on nine rushes that went for 112 yards. Hill also threw a 22-yard score to fellow “tight end” Adam Trautman. Alvin Kamara posted a season-high 194 scrimmage yards in the win but is still looking for his first major of the season.
The Saints got gashed for 151 rushing yards on 7.2 yards per Seattle rush attempt, so expect Sunday to be a get-right outing for the run defence. And if not, New Orleans’ 24th-ranked run defence will remain an issue.
