In Week 5, both the Cincinnati Bengals and Detroit Lions were victims of tough walk-off field goal losses. The 3-2 Bengals had a game-winning kick go off the upright and out, threw an interception in overtime, went on celebrated another missed field goal, and then ultimately lost to Green Bay. The 0-5 Lions had a lead with 37 seconds remaining only to allow 46 yards within the remaining time and fall on a 54-yard field goal.

Kickoff at Ford Field is 1 p.m. EST. Cincinnati’s a 3.5-point road favourite with the total at 47.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Bengals are on a serious road slump as of late, winning in two of their last 20 away from home. Detroit’s also lost six in a row at Ford Field. When facing off against one another, Cincinnati’s on a six-game winning streak versus Detroit while covering in five of those six dubs.

Both teams have favoured the under this season (Cincinnati 4-1, Detroit 3-2). The Bengals rank 18th in points for while Detroit’s 25th. On the flip side the Bengals are seventh in the NFL with an average of 20 points against. The Bengals have allowed 30 points against in two road games this season too, but the Lions have performed better at home by averaging 25 points a contest.

Cincinnati Bengals

Any pre-season doubt about rookie wide out Ja’Marr Chase is gone. Chase is seventh in the league with 456 receiving yards, tied for second with five touchdowns, and had a 70-yard score in Week 5 which was part of his 10 grabs for 159 yards against the Packers.

His quarterback, Joe Burrow, paid the price against Green Bay and is now battling a throat injury that required a hospital visit. Burrow’s expected to start against Detroit but is currently on a “voice rest” per the Bengals.

Starting running back Joe Mixon missed practice Thursday with an ankle injury. Mixon suited up hurt in Week 5 and had only 33 yards on 10 carries but did find the end zone.

Detroit Lions

It might not be saying much, but the Lions look good for 0-5. Detroit’s gone down to the wire with the 49ers, Packers, and now the Vikings but have lost twice on 50-plus-yard kicks.

Jared Goff passed for a season-low 203 yards in Week 5 and recorded his worst passer rating at 64.3. Overall, Goff’s got solid numbers on the year with 1,303 yards, seven touchdowns, and three picks through five starts. Detroit’s backfield of D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams have helped a ton too, as each back has over 190 yards and two scores so far. It’s just a matter of turning the production into points, especially when two points in reach.
