Bears vs. 49ers Point Spread: NFL Week 17 Odds, Prediction
The Sunday slate on Week 17 of the 2025 NFL season wraps up with a crunch matchup in the NFC as the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers lock horns at Levi’s Stadium.
Both teams are still in contention for the No. 1 seed, but simultaneously will have focus on just winning the division first. Each side enters with an 11-4 record, and Chicago is looking to follow up its huge overtime win over the Packers last week, while the 49ers are eyeing their sixth win in a row.
San Francisco is a 3-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with the total pegged at 52.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
With the Bears and 49ers sporting strong records while also outperforming expectations, they each come into this matchup with a healthy spread record on the season. The Bears are 10-4-1 ATS, including 5-2-1 on the road, while the 49ers are 10-5 ATS, although that diminishes to just 3-3 at home. For the game totals trends, the Bears have seen six of their last ten go below the number, while the 49ers have cashed the Over six times in that same period.
The last eight matchups between these two have seen them exchange covers, with San Francisco doing it most recently last December, smoothly covering as three-point favourites in a 38-13 victory.
Chicago Bears
The Bears have turned into an absolute force in Ben Johnson’s first season as head coach. After starting the 2025 campaign 0-2 following a fourth-quarter collapse against the Vikings and a blowout defeat to the Lions, many expected it to be “same old, same old” for Chicago.
However, the Bears have since gone 11-2 with quarterback Caleb Williams looking like a superstar in his second season. Their run game has improved dramatically behind D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai, and Johnson has this offence humming, having posted 24 points or more in 11 of their 15 games. Given the 49ers’ laundry list of injuries on defence, Chicago has a great shot of exploiting that weakness.
San Francisco 49ers
Don’t look now, but the 49ers are once again a serious contender for the Super Bowl. Despite being hampered by multiple injuries on both offence and defence throughout the season, Kyle Shanahan has his team at 11-4 and hitting its stride at the right time. Brock Purdy is back and firing, while both George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey have been especially potent on the offence. San Fran just stuck 48 points on the Colts on MNF last week and is playing with all the confidence in the world.
While injuries to the likes of Nick Bosa and Fred Warner have hampered the defence, Robert Saleh still has his unit playing sturdy football. They’ll no doubt have all they can handle against the Bears, but there’s every chance they rise to the occasion in front of their home crowd.
NFL Prediction: Who Will Win Bears vs. 49ers?
We’re in for one heck of a treat on SNF this week, and there’s every chance we see these teams lock horns again in the playoffs. Both are in exceptional form, but the Bears did catch a few lucky breaks in last week’s overtime victory over Green Bay. The 49ers have been punishing opponents, and with a shootout expected, it could come down to which offence can be trusted the most.
With CMC on their side and San Fran arguably holding the edge defensively, the 49ers should prevail somewhere in the region of 27-24.
