The San Francisco 49ers and Indianapolis Colts have combined for one win in eight games this season. Needless to say, this contest won’t be featured on primetime. However, there could be some betting value on the Sports Interaction odds board in what could be a game that’s overlooked by many.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Indianapolis Colts

Point Spread: Indianapolis -1.5 Date: Sunday October 8, 2017 – 1:00 PM ET Location: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana

Point Spread And Betting Analysis

The Colts opened at -1.5 for this contest and while 60% of the early bets have come in on them, the line has held steady. They fell to 1-3 on the season and 2-2 against the spread following last week’s loss to Seattle. Meanwhile, the 49ers have actually exceeded expectations according to their sports betting results early on this season. San Francisco is 0-4 straight up but 3-1 against the spread.

San Francisco 49ers

Nobody expected the 49ers to beat the Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams or Arizona Cardinals in their first four games. They’ve been a dog each time. The fact that they nearly upset three of their last four opponents is a testament to hard work of the players and coaching staff.

San Francisco is one of the worst teams in the NFL, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index, which measures perceived strength based on roster talent. However, the 49ers have lost each of their last three games by three points or fewer – including an overtime defeat in Arizona last week. Quarterback Brian Hoyer has done just enough to keep them close in games without being good enough to put them over the top and win a game. This is the 49ers most favorable matchup on paper so far this season, so it will be interesting to see how they perform on the road as slight underdogs.

Indianapolis Colts

Andrew Luck’s absence has really hurt an Indianapolis franchise that relied so heavily on his talent in previous years. Jacoby Brissett hasn’t been terrible in the starting role. He nearly led the Colts to an upset win over the Cardinals in Week 2 before beating the Cleveland Browns at home in Week 3. Nobody expected the Colts to go into Seattle and beat the Seahawks on the road on Sunday Night Football last week but it will be important to bounce back and refocus following the lopsided loss. The leaders in the AFC South are 2-2, so if the Colts can get to 2-3 and hopefully get Luck back in Week 6, they can still be in the thick of things.

The Indianapolis defense needs to rebound after giving up an average of 37.0 points per game in its last two. Brissett is capable of putting the Colts in position to win this game but he will need the defense to step up if Indianapolis is going to bounce back this week.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Indianapolis Colts Prediction:

49ers 19, Colts 17
