Allow me to re-introduce…his name is Hov, CEO of the R.O.C.

That’s right, the worst kept secret in entertainment was made official on Monday as Jay-Z will take centre-stage for this year’s Super Bowl halftime show at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Feb. 14, 2027.

Jay-Z is actually tapping himself to perform as he and his company, Roc Nation, have partnered with the NFL to produce the Super Bowl halftime show since 2019.

The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the biggest entertainment spectacles of the year and while we know the headliner, we don’t know if there will be any guests joining him to perform.

It’s hard to imagine Jay-Z not having a surprise guest or guests in L.A., so let’s start the speculation with the most likely options.

Halftime show

Beyonce

Queen Bey will be a heavy favourite to join Jay-Z on stage. The superstar performer already headlined the halftime show in 2013 and she performed with Coldplay and Bruno Mars in 2016.

Beyonce’s ties to the NFL don’t stop there. She sang the national anthem at Super Bowl 38 in her hometown of Houston, Texas in 2004 and she headlined what was dubbed the “Beyonce Bowl” at halftime in Houston on Christmas Day in 2024.

Beyonce and Jay-Z are frequent collaborators and touring partners, beginning with “03 Bonnie and Clyde” in 2002 before arguably their most popular hit together, “Crazy in Love” the following year. Other collaborations include “Drunk in Love”, “Part II (On the Run)”, “Deja Vu” and “Lift Off”.

Of course, Beyonce and Jay-Z have also been married since 2008 and share three children.

Rihanna

Rihanna is another superstar with a deep connection to Jay-Z and a history with the NFL.

Rihanna auditioned for music executives including Jay-Z when he was CEO of Def Jam Records in 2005 before signing a record deal. She eventually left Def Jam to re-join Jay-Z at Roc Nation in 2010.

Rihanna and Jay-Z have several hit songs together, including “Umbrella”, “Run this Town” and “Talk that Talk”.

The duo have performed together as recently as this year when Rihanna joined Jay-Z on stage as a surprise guest during a show at Yankee Stadium.

Like Beyonce, Rihanna is no stranger to the NFL. After a five-year hiatus, she headlined the Super Bowl halftime show in 2023, announcing her pregnancy in one of the most memorable recent halftime shows.

Blue Ivy Carter

Blue Ivy Carter is Jay-Z and Beyonce’s oldest child. Although she only turns 15 about a month before this year’s Super Bowl, she already performed as a dancer during Beyonce’s 2024 Christmas Day halftime show in Houston.

Blue Ivy was also a dancer for Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter tour and she has developed her own following and fanbase.

Adding Blue Ivy to the halftime show could truly turn the performance into a family affair.

Eminem

Eminem makes a lot of sense as an option as he’s already joined Jay-Z during his current tour. Slim Shady was also the sole guest performer on Jay-Z’s 2001 album The Blueprint on the song “Renegade.”

Like the other performers on this list, Eminem has worked with the NFL before. He was one of the main performers at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2022, also at SoFi Stadium, and last year he performed with Jack White at the American Thanksgiving halftime show in his hometown of Detroit.

Super Bowl favourites

So, who will actually be playing in the big game?

Entering Week 8, the Super Bowl favourites are the 6-1 San Francisco 49ers (+575), the 5-1 Buffalo Bills (+600), the 5-1 Kansas City Chiefs (+900) and the 3-4 Los Angeles Rams (+1100).

Interestingly, oddsmakers don’t have a lot of faith in the only undefeated team remaining in the NFL, 6-0 Minnesota. The Vikings are +1800 to win the Super Bowl, tied with the Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos for the 10th shortest odds.
