Jahmyr Gibbs Over 26.5 receiving yards
Let’s start with Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs, but rather than target rushing yards, I’m looking at his receiving yards total. Gibbs is averaging 22.5 receiving yards per game, which is below his total this week, but he’s topped 30 yards in the air three times this season, which is above his total.
The two games Gibbs hasn’t hit 30 receiving yards were blowout wins. That shouldn’t be the case this week at Arrowhead, so he’ll be a top target for Jared Goff.
Gibbs is also among the top running backs in the NFL in both targets (22) and receptions (23) and Kansas City ranks 30th in the NFL in terms of allowing running backs targets.
With Detroit sitting as a 2.5-point underdog, I’m banking on the Lions utilizing Gibbs in the air.
Xavier Worthy Over 5.5 receptions
While Xavier Worthy didn’t practice Thursday, he was a full participant Wednesday so I’m expecting him to play this week. Worthy has missed time with injuries, but when he plays he’s a go-to option for Patrick Mahomes, especially with Travis Kelce seemingly losing a step. He has been targeted 18 times over the last two weeks and picked up six receptions last time out against Jacksonville.
Worthy will also be facing a banged up Detroit secondary. Starting cornerback Terrion Arnold is out indefinitely after suffering a shoulder injury last week and the Lions other starting cornerback, D.J. Reed, is on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.
Kansas City will attack Detroit’s injury-riddled secondary and Worthy will be a key piece.
Jared Goff Under 242.5 passing yards
Lastly, I’m going to fade Jared Goff’s passing yards total. He’s averaging 237.4 passing yards per game, which is below his total this week, and he’s finished with less than 243 yards in three of five outings this season.
Kansas City has one of the best ranked pass defences in the NFL and Goff hasn’t thrown the ball more 30 or more times in a game since Week 1. In fact, Goff hasn’t thrown the ball 20 times in three weeks.
