Joe Flacco

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor named Flacco the team’s starting quarterback for their Week 6 road game in Green Bay. The announcement comes a day after the Bengals acquired the former Super Bowl MVP in a trade with the Cleveland Browns.

The spread for the game has dropped a bit, but Cincinnati is still a massive underdog. They entered the week as 14.5-point underdogs against Green Bay, but that number has dropped to 14 roughly 24 hours after the Flacco trade.

Flacco led the Cleveland to a 13-10 Week 3 victory over the Packers, despite throwing for just 142 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.

The Bengals are hoping Flacco can provide the type of spark he had when he led Cleveland on a late-season playoff push in 2023 that earned him Comeback Player of the Year honours.

Flacco hasn’t looked good with the Browns this season, however. He posted a 58.1 completion percentage with two passing TDs and six interceptions in four starts before he was benched in favour of rookie Dillon Gabriel.

Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati is trying to salvage their season following the toe injury Joe Burrow suffered in Week 2 that is expected to keep the star quarterback out of the lineup until at least December.

Backup quarterback Jake Browning has lost his three starts since the Burrow injury. Browning is averaging 189 passing yards per game with a 64.5 completion percentage while tossing for six touchdowns and eight interceptions over four appearances this season.

Cincinnati is currently sitting at +1500 to win the AFC North, just ahead of Cleveland at +1800. Despite Lamar Jackson’s hamstring injury, the 1-4 Ravens are still +105 favourites to win the division, just ahead of 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers and the 3-1 Steelers at +110.
