2023 NFL Week 12 Power Rankings
Another big win over a legit Super Bowl contender has cemented the Philadelphia Eagles as the team to beat, both on the field and at the sportsbook.
Here are the NFL Betting Power Rankings for Week 12.
1. Philadelphia Eagles
SU: 9-1
ATS: 6-2-2
Super Bowl Odds: +450
Last week’s ranking: 5
The Eagles have silenced their critics with their recent SU and ATS wins over playoff-bound teams including the Chiefs, Cowboys, and Dolphins, and have established themselves as the team to beat, both on the gridiron and at the sportsbook.
2. Detroit Lions
SU: 8-2
ATS: 7-3
Super Bowl Odds: +1100
Last week’s ranking: 1
The Lions managed to survive a scare in last week’s narrow win over Chicago, but with over 32 points scored per game during a 3-0 SU run, and four straight games coming up against teams without winning records, the Lions remain a reliable bet.
3. Minnesota Vikings
SU: 6-5
ATS: 7-3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +8000
Last week’s ranking: 4
The Vikings extended the NFL’s longest current against the spread win streak to six games with last weekend’s 21-20 loss in Denver as 2.5-point underdogs, and now sport an impressive 4-1-1 ATS record as underdogs including three outright victories.
4. San Francisco 49ers
SU: 7-3
ATS: 5-5
Super Bowl Odds: +450
Last week’s ranking: 3
The 49ers have put their recent injury woes behind them while recording consecutive wins by double-digit margins, but ATS wins continue to come at a premium.
5. Cleveland Browns
SU: 7-3
ATS: 6-3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +5000
Last week’s ranking: 11
The Browns are quickly proving that you don’t need a star quarterback to enjoy consistent success, winning five of six while going 4-1-1 ATS. Three impressive outright wins as betting underdogs over Cincinnati, Baltimore, and San Francisco can’t be overlooked, but Cleveland has covered just once on the road this season.
6. Dallas Cowboys
SU: 7-3
ATS: 7-3
Super Bowl Odds: +1000
Last week’s ranking: 6
The Cowboys sit amongst the league leaders in the SU and ATS standings. However, their success has largely come against non-playoff teams, raising concerns as the competition heats up down the stretch.
7. Baltimore Ravens
SU: 8-3
ATS: 7-4
Super Bowl Odds: +900
Last week’s ranking: 7
The Ravens offence has been firing on all cylinders, averaging 34.2 points scored over the past five games. Despite that outburst, this time has failed to meet lofty expectations on the NFL odds, where they have covered in consecutive games just once during a 5-4 ATS run, and are just 1-3 ATS in their past four when favoured by six or more points.
8. Jacksonville Jaguars
SU: 7-3
ATS: 7-3
Super Bowl Odds: +1800
Last week’s ranking: 9
The Jaguars redeemed themselves for their Week 10 loss to the 49ers with last weekend’s 34-14 rout of Tennessee, and are 6-1 SU and ATS in their past seven, but have been a disappointment at home while going 2-3 SU and ATS.
9. Kansas City Chiefs
SU: 7-3
ATS: 6-4
Super Bowl Odds: +450
Last week’s ranking: 2
The Chiefs have failed to dominate as the competition has stiffened, scoring just 15.7 points per game and only seven total points after halftime during a middling 1-2 SU and ATS run.
10. Miami Dolphins
SU: 7-3
ATS: 6-4
Super Bowl Odds: +900
Last week’s ranking: 10
The red-hot Dolphins attack has cooled off considerably during the team’s current 2-2 SU, 1-3 ATS run, averaging just 20.5 points per game. A three-game losing streak on the road in which they have fallen to defeat by an average margin of 16.3 points, and a growing list of injury woes, raise big concerns.
11. Denver Broncos
SU: 5-5
ATS: 3-6-1
Super Bowl Odds: +12500
Last week’s ranking: 13
The Broncos have entered the playoff hunt with four straight wins, but have kept NFL betting fans on the edge of their seats while claiming victory by two or fewer points in three of those contests. This team needs to find more offence ahead of an upcoming stretch of road dates with Houston, Detroit, and the Chargers.
12. Pittsburgh Steelers
SU: 6-4
ATS: 6-4
Super Bowl Odds: +8000
Last week’s ranking: 15
The Steelers have managed to compile a 4-2 SU and ATS record over their past six games despite scoring just 17.3 points per game and fielding the NFL’s second worst passing game. But that may not matter ahead of a stretch of five games against playoff also-rans.
13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
SU: 4-6
ATS: 7-3
Super Bowl Odds: +15000
Last week’s ranking: 19
Outright wins have come at a premium for the Bucs, but this team has vastly exceeded expectations at the sportsbook, covering in four straight contests, and now look forward to a healthy diet of dates with non-playoff opponents.
14. Las Vegas Raiders
SU: 5-6
ATS: 6-5
Super Bowl Odds: +30000
Last week’s ranking: 18
The Raiders have gotten a lift from the team’s recent coaching change, winning twice during a 3-0 ATS run, and holding opponents to 12.7 points per game. Can they extend a four-game SU and ATS win streak at Allegiant Stadium ahead of their upcoming three-game home stand?
15. Indianapolis Colts
SU: 5-5
ATS: 6-4
Super Bowl Odds: +15000
Last week’s ranking: 17
The Colts benefited from low expectations while posting SU and ATS road wins over Carolina and New England. However, they have underachieved at home going 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS so far this season.
16. Cincinnati Bengals
SU: 5-5
ATS: 4-5-1
Super Bowl Odds: +15000
Last week’s ranking: 8
With Joe Burrow’s season coming to an end due to a wrist injury, and the team surrendering 32 points per game in consecutive defeats, expect the Bengals to fade fast as they face an increasingly tough schedule down the stretch.
17. Houston Texans
SU: 6-4
ATS: 5-5
Super Bowl Odds: +5000
Last week’s ranking: 12
The Texans have returned to respectability while winning six of eight, but have failed to live up to their billing as sportsbook darlings, going just 1-3 ATS in their past four games, which were settled by a combined margin of just 12 points.
18. Los Angeles Chargers
SU: 4-6
ATS: 4-6
Super Bowl Odds: +6600
Last week’s ranking: 14
Playoff hopes are fading fast for a Chargers team that continues to battle the injury bug while losing four of six including two of three on home turf.
19. Buffalo Bills
SU: 6-5
ATS: 4-7
Super Bowl Odds: +2200
Last week’s ranking: 23
The Bills avenged their season-opening loss to New York with last week’s 32-6 rout of the Jets, ending a 0-6 ATS slide, expectations remain low ahead of their upcoming three-game stretch against Philadelphia, Kansas City, and Dallas.
20. Seattle Seahawks
SU: 6-4
ATS: 5-4-1
Super Bowl Odds: +4000
Last week’s ranking: 16
Since they racked up over 32 points per game during an early-season 3-0 SU run, the Seahawks have averaged just 17.5 points in six games, going 3-3 SU and 2-3-1 ATS. Can they turn it around with their season on the line as they prepare for a brutal four-game stretch against Super Bowl contenders?
21. New Orleans Saints
SU: 5-5
ATS: 2-7-1
Super Bowl Odds: +6600
Last week’s ranking: 22
The best of a bad lot in the NFL’s weakest division, the Saints have been a massive betting disappointment, particularly on home turf, where they have gone 0-4 ATS.
22. Green Bay Packers
SU: 4-6
ATS: 5-5
Super Bowl Odds: +15000
Last week’s ranking: 25
The Packers have won and covered in two of their past three, ending a 0-4 SU and ATS slide. Four of their past six contests have been settled by four or fewer points, but it is tough to get excited about their prospects ahead of upcoming dates with Detroit and Kansas City.
23. Los Angeles Rams
SU: 4-6
ATS: 4-5-1
Super Bowl Odds: +12500
Last week’s ranking: 26
SU losers in four straight, the injury-ravaged Rams have averaged just 14.3 points over that stretch, and have seen the four losses during their current 2-4 SU run come by an average margin of 14 points.
24. New York Jets
SU: 4-6
ATS: 4-5-1
Super Bowl Odds: +15000
Last week’s ranking: 20
The Jets may sport a formidable defence, but with an offence that has managed to produce just one total touchdown while getting outscored by a wide 75-24 margin during a 0-3 SU and ATS run, there is little reason to expect a turnaround anytime soon.
25. Tennessee Titans
SU: 3-7
ATS: 4-6
Super Bowl Odds: +75000
Last week’s ranking: 24
The Titans have lost three straight while averaging just 12 points per game. Tennessee has scored just three TDs over that stretch, with both of Will Levis’ TD passes coming in garbage time. Tanking is a legit possibility ahead of this weekend’s date with last-place Carolina.
26. Chicago Bears
SU: 3-8
ATS: 4-6-1
Super Bowl Odds: +100000
Last week’s ranking: 29
The Bears were energized by the return of Justin Fields in last weekend’s narrow loss in Detroit, and have paid out in three of their past four road dates, and are 3-1 ATS in their past four while pegged as underdogs by six or more points.
27. Arizona Cardinals
SU: 2-9
ATS: 6-5
Super Bowl Odds: +150000
Last week’s ranking: 30
The Cardinals have covered in two straight since Kyler Murray’s return to action, and are 3-1 ATS in their past four. With a 4-1 ATS record, this team should not be undervalued on home turf, at least not this weekend.
28. New York Giants
SU: 3-8
ATS: 3-7-1
Super Bowl Odds: +150000
Last week’s ranking: 32
Could Tommy DeVito prove to be the answer under center for the Giants? It sure looked like it in last week’s win in Washington. The Giants have gone 3-2-1 ATS since opening the season on a 0-5 ATS run, and back-to-back home dates against New England and Green Bay provide an opportunity to finish strong.
29. Atlanta Falcons
SU: 4-6
ATS: 2-8
Super Bowl Odds: +12500
Last week’s ranking: 27
Incredibly, the Falcons remain in the hunt for the top of the NFC South despite losing six of their past eight. However, this team remains a bad bet, going 1-8 ATS in their past nine, and are winless ATS at home in four games since opening the season with a 24-10 win over bottom-feeding Carolina.
30. Washington Commanders
SU: 4-7
ATS: 5-5-1
Super Bowl Odds: +100000
Last week’s ranking: 21
Legions of NFL betting fans got burned while backing the Commanders in last weekend’s embarrassing loss to the feeble New York Giants. Washington has now lost seven of nine, but have exceeded expectations on the road while going 5-1 ATS including three outright wins as betting underdogs.
31. New England Patriots
SU: 2-8
ATS: 2-8
Super Bowl Odds: +150000
Last week’s ranking: 28
Despite sitting dead last in the NFL in points scored, and going a dismal 3-14 SU in 17 games since Thanksgiving 2022, the Patriots continue to get respect at the sportsbooks. The Patriots have been limited to six or fewer points three times during their 1-6 SU and ATS run, and have been shockingly pegged as betting chalk twice over that stretch.
32. Carolina Panthers
SU: 1-9
ATS: 2-7-1
Super Bowl Odds: +150000
Last week’s ranking: 31
With the worst record in the NFL, and the top pick in next year’s NFL Draft in reach, expectations should be tempered as the Panthers hit the road for three games. However, Carolina has covered in two of four while twice limiting opponents to 16 or fewer points.
