The best division in the NFL this season at least by the quality of its four starting quarterbacks clearly has to be the AFC West. Can another team finally unseat Kansas City at the top?

The Chiefs are +160 favourites on the NFL odds.

Denver Broncos 2022-2023 Betting Predictions

NFL - Regular Season Wins - Denver Broncos

  • Under 10.5 -167
  • Over 10.5 +130

The Broncos made the biggest splash in the division this offseason by trading for future Hall of Fame quarterback Russell Wilson – Denver has been looking for an answer at the position since Peyton Manning retired after winning Super Bowl 50. The team hasn’t been back to the playoffs since. Wilson has a good 1-2 punch at running back in Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon. The receiving group took a hit with a season-ending torn ACL suffered by Tim Patrick. He had 53 catches for 734 yards and five scores last season. The new head coach is former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. The Broncos are -270 to win the AFC West, and their favoured finishing position is second at +245. I like third at +255. Denver’s win total is 10.5, and I’ll go under with a projection of 10-7.

Kansas City Chiefs 2022-2023 Betting Predictions

NFL 22/23

To Make The Playoffs - Kansas City Chiefs
  • Yes -10000
  • No +1288

Kansas City has won the division six straight seasons and has the best coach in the West and maybe the NFL in future Hall of Famer Andy Reid. As long as Patrick Mahomes stays healthy, the Chiefs are going to be Super Bowl contenders. They did take a big hit this offseason when trading All-Pro receiver Tyreek Hill to Miami but did add the likes of Juju Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling in free agency and drafted Western Michigan wideout Skyy Moore in the second round. By all accounts, rookie tailback Isiah Pacheco has been a pleasant surprise in camp. The Chiefs are +160 favorites in the division, and their favored finishing position is first at +155. I like second at +185. Kansas City has a win total of 10.5, and I lean over (11-6).

Las Vegas Raiders 2022-2023 Betting Predictions

NFL 22/23

Regular Season Wins - Las Vegas Raiders
  • Under 8.5 -137
  • Over 8.5 +103

Las Vegas has a new head coach in former Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels – it’s easy to forget this team made the playoffs last season despite all the turmoil and eventual in-season firing of Coach Jon Gruden. Quarterback Derek Carr threw for a career-high 4,804 yards in 2021 and might get to 5,000 this year with the trade acquisition of All-Pro receiver Davante Adams from Green Bay. Defensively, the Raiders signed pass-rusher Chandler Jones. He leads the NFL in sacks (107.5) and forced fumbles (33) since entering the league in 2012. Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller reportedly is close to getting a contract extension that would make him the highest paid player at his position. This team will score, but even with Jones there are concerns on defence. Las Vegas is +595 to win the West, and its favoured finishing position is fourth at +115 – that’s where I lean. The Raiders’ win total is 8.5, and I like over there (9-8).

Los Angeles Chargers 2022-2023 Betting Predictions

This is my pick to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. Justin Herbert is only going to get better in Year 3 and threw for 5,014 yards and 38 touchdowns last year. The offence is stacked with Austin Ekeler at running back, and Keenan Allen and Mike Williams at wideout. The offensive line used to be a weak spot but on paper now looks to be one of the NFL’s best after drafting Rashawn Slater in Round 1 in 2021 and Zion Johnson in the first round this year. It’s all going to come down to the defence, which added two Pro Bowlers in pass-rusher Khalil Mack and cornerback JC Jackson – although Jackson may miss the first week or two following ankle surgery. The Chargers are +210 to win the West, and I think they do. A first-place finishing position is +220. LA’s win total is 10.5, and I’m going over (11-6 but wins tiebreaker over Chiefs).
