College Football Preview: Tide’s Season Rests on Date With LSU

Has the Mad Hatter one final trick to play in SEC West this season? Al Dannity says expect the unexpected when Alabama travel to Baton Rouge on Saturday.

Tigers can shock Tide
Much has been said about LSU’s offensive woes yet the Tigers have lost just once all season. It’s easy to point to that game, a defeat at Auburn, and see the gulf between LSU and the rest of the SEC when it comes to moving the chains. Auburn had 526 yards of total offense compared to just 243 yards for LSU. Yet for all that domination, LSU lost by just 7 points. That should have alarm bells ringing in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama’s offense is good but is not the kind of explosive force that will intimidate the Tigers at home. Defensively the Tide are still raw and will be susceptible to big plays. LSU’s offense can’t mount a consistent drive against anybody but Les Miles is more than capable of engineering a few big plays from his players. That may be all the Tigers need to sneak a win.

Chaos is the most powerful force in NCAA Football at this time of year so College Football betting fans should be on the lookout for potential results that will cause confusion. Michigan State and Missouri’s defeats last week complicated the Big Ten and Big 12 races. Now it’s the SEC’s turn to take an odd turn. The Mad Hatter isn’t in the habit of losing twice in a row. Bet on the LSU Tigers to pull the upset as +6.0 underdogs with Sports Interaction.

Gamecocks need to control the clock
South Carolina’s meeting with Arkansas will likely have no direct impact on the SEC East race but it could play a huge role mentally for the Gamecocks. Victory over the Razorbacks would give South Carolina a big lift ahead of next week’s trip to Florida.

It’s going to be tough. Ryan Mallett has managed to overcome some big hits to keep the Hogs’ offense ticking over. Arkansas have the #2 passing attack in the nation with Mallett enjoying his best ever season statistically. Defense and the ground game are where the Gamecocks can win this game. Much like South Carolina’s win over Georgia in September, Steve Spurrier needs to put the ball in Marcus Lattimore’s hands as often as possible. By running the ball and killing the clock, South Carolina can take the pressure off Stephen Garcia. There are bigger games to come for South Carolina but a win here is still important. Bet on the South Carolina Gamecocks as -3.5 favorites with Sports Interaction.
