Michigan State is looking for its third straight win against the Wolverines on Saturday. With Mark Dantonio set to travel, get ready for an emotional day in the Big House.
Spartans will out-gun Shoelace If Denard Robinson played defense as well as offense he’d probably be officially renamed Superman but more importantly he would make life a lot easier for himself. Shoelace has no trouble getting it done on his own with this Wolverines’ offense, racking up more rushing yards than most teams in FBS and proving a dangerous passer as well. Unfortunately for Robinson, the Michigan secondary is making him have to work extra hard to win games. The defense is essentially spotting opponents the guts of 4 touchdowns a game and challenging Shoelace to beat that.
So far Shoelace has delivered ever time. Against Michigan State such play could cost Michigan its unbeaten streak. The Spartans have a healthy balance on offense but critically have the kind of running game that College Football betting fans will love. Michigan State knows the best way to beat Michigan is to keep Denard Robinson off the field. I expect plenty of time consuming drives by the Spartans, killing the clock and reducing Robinson’s role.
The psychological boost of having Mark Dantonio in attendance will also play a role. Last week the Spartans won despite Coach Dantonio’s absence following his post-game heart attack a week earlier. Now recovering and ready to travel, I expect the Michigan State coach’s presence to be enough to inspire his team to victory. Irish will move to 3-3 At the start of the season this looked to be one of Notre Dame’s tougher games. While Pittsburgh remains a tough test for the Fighting Irish, it’s hard to see Brian Kelly’s men losing on Saturday. That’s mostly down to Pitt’s horrible start to 2010. Dion Lewis, a monster as a freshman, has faded into insignificance in his sophomore season. With Utah and Miami both owning victories over the Panthers, it’s clear that Dave Wannstedt’s team isn’t ready to join College Football’s elite.
The Irish meanwhile finally saw their defense show up as they recorded a big road win over Boston College last week. Notre Dame needs a better showing from Dayne Crist this weekend under center to beat the Panthers. I like Crist to deliver and bring the Irish to 3-3. Bet on Notre Dame as -6.5 favorites with Sports Interaction.
