Ryan Tannehill has led a resurgence in College Station but Al Dannity doesn’t like the Aggies’ chances against Nebraska on Saturday.
Nebraska’s defense can dominate A&M The sudden return to prominence of Texas A&M has been one of the stories of the second half of the 2010 season. Ryan Tannehill has led the Aggies to huge victories over Oklahoma and Baylor, having started the year behind Jerrod Johnson. The quarterback faces his biggest challenge yet on Saturday with a home game against the Cornhuskers.
Normally this is the point in a Nebraska preview where I talk about how phenomenal Taylor Martinez is. After all, he did this to Kansas State earlier this season. While I like Martinez to have a big game on Saturday, the Huskers will be relying on their all-conquering defense to deliver a win. Nebraska have the #10 scoring defense in the nation and did enough to contain high-flying offenses like Oklahoma State and Missouri in big games earlier this year. Holding the Cowboys to 41 points may not sound outstanding but Oklahoma State have broken 50 points five times in 2010 and have the #3 scoring offense in the country. That’s the kind of test that will have the Blackshirts ready for their trip to College Station. Bet on Nebraska to win as -3.0 favorites with Sports Interaction.
Cal’s defense is a bigger threat than the band The Golden Bears’ have a split personality on defense. On the road, they’re as porous as the New Mexico Lobos. At home however they look like the 1986 Chicago Bears. Current #1 Oregon found this out the hard way last week, earning a narrow escape in a 15-13 victory. The Golden Bears defense will now get a chance to knock off the second best team in the Pac-10 when their greatest rivals come to Berkeley.
The Cardinal present a different kind of offense. While the Ducks were built around running back LaMichael James, Stanford’s offense begins with quarterback Andrew Luck. He has led one of the most balanced attacks in all of College Football this season and that should neutralize much of Cal’s ability to stifle Stanford. I expect to see plenty of play-action calls to keep the Bears honest, ensuring Stanford win comfortably.
Stanford’s fans may fear a repeat of 1982, when The Play happened and Stanford’s band cost them the Big Game. College Football betting fans shouldn’t worry quite so much about history. Bet on the Stanford Cardinal as -7.0 favorites with Sports Interaction.
