UCLA NCAAB Tournament Preview 2008

With experience on their side, can the Bruins catch the eye of the college basketball betting public in 2008?

UCLA is the winningest school in NCAA Tournament history, but that record haul of eleven titles can be misleading for the student of March Madness Betting. Most multiple title winning schools have won those multiple titles over a prolonged number of years. UCLA is different, because ten of the Bruins’ eleven titles were won in the twelve years between 1964 and 1975 inclusive. It was the John Wooden Era, and it won’t be coming back.

But that was then, this is now. Even though everything the school does will always be overshadowed by Wooden and Alcindor and the rest, UCLA has a great shot at adding to its only non-Wooden title this year. When UCLA arrives at the Dance, it will have one thing that most other school lack. Experience.

In this one-and-done era of College careers before heading straight for the NBA, the Bruins have had success in keeping the team together. The core of the team is the same as that that reached the Final Four and the man who’s new, Kevin Love, is perhaps the most exciting freshman center in College basketball today.

UCLA gets it done on defense, but in the heat of tournament play, would be Bruins be able to last a shootout? That the big question facing Bruins backers as they make their bets
