It’s a potential Western Conference playoff preview and matchup of two all-time greats on Saturday night – if both play — as Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors visit Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns, who are 2.5-point favourites on the NBA odds.

Warriors vs. Suns NBA Betting Odds

The United States probably doesn’t win a gold medal at this summer’s Paris Olympics in basketball without the contributions of legends and future first-ballot Hall of Famers Steph Curry and Kevin Durant.

Of course, they were teammates as well for a few years back with Golden State when Durant won his only two NBA titles in 2017 & ’18. He also was named Finals MVP in both years and is a former regular-season MVP and scoring champion, among many other accolades. Curry is a four-time NBA champion, one-time Finals MVP, two-time regular-season MVP and two-time scoring champion, among many other accolades.

There are probably 5-6 teams that can realistically come out of the Western Conference and these are two if they stay healthy. The Warriors have mostly overachieved so far considering they lost another future Hall of Famer in Klay Thompson to free agency in the offseason.

Saturday marks the first of four regular-season meetings between the teams. Last season, the Suns own three of four – each was decided by eight points or fewer. Durant played in three of them and averaged 24.7 points, while Devin Booker averaged a team-best 30.2 PPG. Curry played in all four and averaged 24.2 PPG.

Phoenix is 7-3 straight up and 6-4 ATS in the past 10 meetings. The over is 7-3.

Golden State Warriors

Golden State played without superstar Steph Curry on Wednesday for the fourth time this season on Wednesday and fell to 3-1 in those games with a 105-101 home defeat against the Thunder, the Warriors’ third straight loss. Curry (22.4 PPG, 6.5 AP, 5.4 RPG) was dealing with minor knee soreness and is likely to return Saturday after practicing on Friday. He is 18 points away from 24,000 career to become the 29th player in NBA history to reach the milestone. Forward Jonathan Kuminga returned after missing the past two and had a team-high 19 points. Starting guard and Toronto native Andrew Wiggins is questionable tonight with a right ankle injury. Golden State is 2-5 ATS in its past seven.

Phoenix Suns

The Suns entered this week on a five-game winning streak but got back All-Stars Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal on Tuesday and impressively beat the Lakers. However, that step forward was erased the next night in a puzzling 10-point home loss to a bad and very short-handed Nets team. Yes, it was the second of a back-to-back, but all the Phoenix key players were in there. And the Suns shot 55.2 per cent from the field but also had 17 turnovers that led to 24 Brooklyn points. Beal has been downgraded to questionable for this one with a calf problem and starting centre Jusuf Nurkic is also iffy with an ankle. You will obviously want to wait on those guys before betting, but I’ll just guess that Nurkic plays and Beal doesn’t. Phoenix is 1-8 ATS in its past nine at home.
