Warriors vs. Kings NBA Playoff Betting Odds

The winner between sixth-seeded Golden State and third-seeded Sacramento will host LeBron James and the No. 7 Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals on Tuesday. The Warriors would be favoured in that series but the Lakers likely would be slightly so over the Kings.

Sunday is the first Game 7 for the Warriors since the 2018 Western Conference Finals against Houston. The Dubs won on the road – Rockets fans remain in “what if” wonderland because Chris Paul was out due to injury — and then swept their way through the NBA Finals against LeBron’s Cleveland Cavaliers. This is the Kings’ first time in the playoffs since 2006 and their first Game 7 since losing to Minnesota in the 2004 conference semifinals.

Golden State Warriors

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said he warmed his veteran team that the Kings would come out with nothing to lose and play aggressively from the start in Game 6 – and he was right in the 118-99 loss. One would think the likes of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green would be ready but they weren’t as Golden State had nine turnovers in the first half and shot 27.4 per cent, a season low in the first half. The Warriors were only down seven but couldn’t find a second gear after intermission. The 19-point margin of defeat was the Warriors’ largest ever at home in the playoffs with a chance to clinch. Curry and Klay Thompson combined for 51 points but also a combined rating of minus-44. No other player had more than 13 points. All-time, the Warriors are 5-5 in Game 7s. They are 6-2 ATS in their past eight this year after an ATS loss.

Sacramento Kings

Even if the Kings don’t win this game, what a great learning experience for a rising club moving forward by simply playing a Game 7 against a dynastic franchise. First-year coach Mike Brown surely knows the weaknesses of the Warriors as good as anyone as he previously was an assistant coach there before being hired by Sacramento. Brown opted to go with a smaller lineup for much of Game 6 and it caught the Warriors off guard. De’Aaron Fox had 26 points and 11 assists, and Malik Monk added 28 points off the bench. That the Kings won despite just seven points and five turnovers in 23 foul-plagued minutes by All-Star big man Domantas Sabonis was shocking. That won’t work in Game 7. The Kings are 2-5 ATS in their past seven at home.
