Portland Trail Blazers vs. San Antonio Spurs Game 2 Prediction, NBA Playoff Odds
Game 2 in San Antonio comes with a familiar early-series question: can the underdog adjust, or will the favourite tighten its grip? The Spurs took Game 1 comfortably, 111-98, behind a dominant playoff debut from Victor Wembanyama, who poured in 35 points and immediately looked like a postseason problem.
Portland showed flashes, though. Their physicality, defensive versatility and willingness to mix coverages made stretches competitive. Still, moral victories don’t count in the playoffs, and now they face a Spurs team that has been operating at another level for months.
Trail Blazers vs. Spurs NBA Betting Odds
After their dominant win, the Spurs once again find themselves as 11.5-point favourites to win Game 2 on the NBA odds. San Antonio has been a reliable ATS team all season (45-34-4), while Portland quietly covered 44 games themselves.
That said, the Spurs’ dominance against non-elite teams stands out. Totals lean slightly toward the over for Portland games (51.2 per cent), but San Antonio trends more towards the Under, especially at home. That number is set at 220.5 for Game 2.
Portland Trail Blazers
Portland is tough, and frankly, annoying to play against, in a good way. They scrap and they don’t go away easily. Scoot Henderson looked composed in his playoff debut (7-for-11 shooting), while Deni Avdija continues to carry a heavy offensive load (30 points).
The issue is shot-making. The Blazers went just 10-for-38 from three in Game 1, and that’s the swing factor. Against a Spurs defence anchored by Wembanyama, getting to the rim is a chore, which is what the Blazers want to do. If Portland can’t hit jumpers, they’re stuck grinding for everything. They’ll need more from Shaedon Sharpe after his 0-for-4 night from deep.
San Antonio Spurs
San Antonio looks like a team that knows exactly what it is and has the superstar to back it up. There’s an edge to Wembanyama’s game, a clear desire to dominate every matchup, reminiscent of the league’s most ruthless competitors.
Beyond him, the Spurs are balanced and disciplined. De’Aaron Fox provides pace and playmaking, while young pieces like Stephon Castle continue to contribute at a high level. This team hasn’t lost to a non-elite opponent in months, and their confidence shows. At home, with control of the series, they’re in a position to press their advantage.
NBA Prediction: Who Will Win Trail Blazers vs. Spurs Game 2?
Portland will compete, there’s no doubt about that. Their defence and toughness can keep things close for stretches, and if the threes start falling, they could even make this uncomfortable. But the margin for error is razor-thin. San Antonio has the best player in the series, the better structure and a clear identity. Wembanyama’s presence alone changes everything defensively, and offensively, he’s already proving matchup-proof, hitting five triples in Game 1. I expect this to stay relatively close through the first three quarters before the Spurs turn it on in the fourth and win 114-100.
