Toronto Raptors vs. Los Angeles Lakers Spread: Odds, Prediction

Rookie Lonzo Ball and the Los Angeles Lakers try to extend the Toronto Raptors’ road blues when they welcome them to the Staples Center on Friday night in front of Jack Nicholson, Denzel Washington, Leo DiCaprio and all the other A-list celebrities sitting courtside.

Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Raptors opened as 6-point road favourites against the Lakers on the Sports Interaction NBA odds board.

The Purple and Gold are 2-2 straight up and against the spread in their four games this season with the over cashing in two of those games. The Lakers are 0-4 straight up in their last four games against the Raptors and have covered in only one of their last seven games hosting Toronto.

Toronto is coming off a narrow loss to the Warriors which improved its ATS record to 3-1 on the year.

The Raptors’ decent start coupled with the Gordon Hayward injury in Boston has shaken up the NBA odds to win the Atlantic Division. The Dinos are at even money (+100) to win while the Celtics are slight favourites at -116.

Raptors

Toronto came back from down 11 in the fourth quarter but Steph Curry and Kevin Durant squashed any hopes of Toronto stealing a win with some late-game heroics.

The Raptors had to get creative with their big-man rotation and started power forward Serge Ibaka at centre and seldom used Pascal Siakam at the four spot. The adjustments were forced because Toronto was missing centres Jonas Valanciunas and Bebe Nogueira.

It’s still up in the air as to whether or not Valanciunas will be available on Friday. He’s missed the last two games and is considered day-to-day with a sore ankle.

Lakers

LaVar might get all the stories but his son Lonzo is the headliner in La-La Land these days. The Lakers grabbed an impressive win Wednesday night against John Wall and the visiting Washington Wizards

LA owns a balanced attack with seven players averaging double figures in points per game. Ball is the lynchpin of the attack and his creative passing seems to have a contagious effect on his teammates. Only two teams average more assists per game than the Lakers.
