San Antonio Spurs vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Prediction, NBA Odds

It will be another possible Western Conference Finals preview when the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder renew their emerging rivalry tonight in OKC. The Thunder are running away in the standings with a 33-7 record, while the Spurs are second in the West at 27-12.

Surprisingly, though, San Antonio has had Oklahoma City’s number this season. The Spurs have won all three head-to-head matchups – one in San Antonio, one in Oklahoma City, and one at a neutral site (NBA Cup semifinals in Las Vegas). Despite those recent results, the Thunder are still 8-5 against the Spurs dating back to the 2022-23 season.

Spurs vs. Thunder NBA Betting Odds

Here are the latest NBA odds for tonight’s Western Conference tilt:

  • Moneyline: Spurs (+200) vs. Thunder (-245)
  • Point spread: Spurs +7 (-110) vs. Thunder -7 (-110)
  • Game totals: Over 229.5 (-110) | Under 229.5 (-110)

You won’t see San Antonio get much respect from the market, even though they won each of the first three matchups, including two in comfortable fashion. The market has, however, adjusted the total after two of the first three meetings produced no more than 220 points. This 229.5 number is by far the lowest of the four.

San Antonio is 3-0 against the spread in its last three games and 7-2 ATS in its last nine on the road. Oklahoma City is 0-5 ATS in its last five overall, 0-3 ATS in its last three at home, and 1-5 ATS in the previous six head-to-head contests. As for the Over/Under, the Under is 9-1 in the Spurs’ past 10 overall, 5-0 in their past five on the road, and 5-2 in the last seven head-to-head encounters. The Over, though, is 3-0 in the Thunder’s latest three outings.

San Antonio Spurs

Devin Vassell has missed seven straight games with an adductor injury and will be sidelined again tonight. Fortunately for head coach Mitch Johnson’s squad, San Antonio has the depth to make up for Vassell’s absence. Seven other players on the roster are averaging in double-figures, led by Victor Wembanyama (24.3 points per game) and De’Aaron Fox (20.7 PPG). Julian Champagnie (11.2 PPG) has stepped up as a starter in place of Vassell, scoring 17.9 PPG over the past seven contests.

There is no need to be overly concerned by San Antonio’s 4-5 record in its last nine outings. With Wembanyama on the floor, the Spurs have not lost a single game by more than one point since December 29 (their 115-110 setback against Portland on January 3 was without Wembanyama).

Oklahoma City Thunder

Oklahoma City’s loss to San Antonio in the NBA Cup semifinals touched off a stretch in which it went 6-6 in the span of 12 games. Head coach Mark Daigneault’s crew has since won three straight, but one came at home in overtime against a lowly Utah club, and another was by one point at Memphis.

Isaiah Hartenstein has missed eight consecutive games due to a calf injury and is unlikely to play tonight. The 7’0’’ centre had a double-double in OKC’s most recent date with the Spurs, missed it by two points when they squared off in San Antonio, and missed it by just a single rebound in the NBA Cup semifinal showdown. In other words, he was a big factor in all three meetings – and the Thunder still lost all three.

NBA Prediction: Who Will Win Spurs vs. Thunder?

In the first three head-to-head encounters combined, the rebounding differential between these two teams was exactly even. Hartenstein played in all three games, so it’s hard to see how Oklahoma City holds up on the boards without its starting centre.

Playing at home and having lost three straight to the Spurs, all of the pressure is on the Thunder. They haven’t handled it well in this particular matchup; they might not tonight either. Let’s go with Spurs 116, Thunder 114.
