Spurs vs. Nets Prediction: NBA Odds, Point Spread

Jeremy Perry | Updated May 12, 2021

The Spurs offence has been unreliable, lately. They’ve been lousy over the last few weeks but somehow exploded for 146 points in their last game. If Demar DeRozan is able to come out and lead this offence, it could give them a huge boost here against a loaded Nets team.

The San Antonio Spurs were able to get a huge win over the Milwaukee Bucks in their last contest, scoring 146 points in the victory. Now, they have to take on a Brooklyn Nets team that has won two straight games and have one of the best offences in the NBA, this season. This will only be the second matchup between these two squads this year, with Brooklyn winning the first game in overtime. Can the Spurs get their revenge over the Nets in this one or will Brooklyn sweep the season series against them?

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Brooklyn opened as a 5-point favourite to win on the NBA odds with a total of 231.5.

The Spurs are 1-5 straight up in their past six games when playing on the road. However, on the year, they’ve been better on the road (19-15) than at home (14-20).

Meanwhile, the Nets are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games overall, but they have a good chance to improve that record here. The Spurs seem to be struggling with consistency lately, as they are on the verge of missing the postseason.

San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio is battling hard for a spot in the postseason right now. They are currently 33-35, which is good enough for the 10th seed in the Western Conference and the last spot in the play-in tournament. They have lost six of their last eight games, though, and that inconsistency could hurt them once again here. The Spurs have a lot of talent across their roster, most notably DeMar DeRozan, who averages 21.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game. The challenge is, their offence has been unreliable. They’ve been lousy over the last few weeks but somehow exploded for 146 points in their last game. If DeRozan is able to come out and lead this offence, it could give them a huge boost here against a loaded Nets team.

Brooklyn Nets

Unfortunately, this Nets team just can’t seem to stay healthy. James Harden will continue to be out with his hamstring injury and Kyrie Irving may miss this contest after taking an elbow to the face in their win over the Chicago Bulls. Regardless, they will still be left with Kevin Durant and Blake Griffin. Each of them is more than capable of leading this team to a victory. Durant has averaged 28.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game, while Griffin adds on 10.1 points per contest in a far smaller role. They may be shorthanded here, but they are just one game ahead of the Bucks for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn will come out with a lot of intensity in order to maintain their spot.
