Report: LeBron James signs with Philadelphia 76ers on two-year deal
LeBron James is adding another chapter to his Hall-of-Fame career.
The 41-year-old is joining the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-year, $8 million contract, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Friday.

LeBron James
James, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, will be back for his NBA-record 24th season. The four-time NBA champion and four-time league MVP also announced the decision on social media, saying he wants to contend and “have a chance at the feeling of winning another championship.”
“I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team and I am so excited to energize a new fan base and start this incredible journey one last time,” James said.
Coming off his 22nd all-star season, James averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.2 steals in 60 regular season games with the Los Angeles Lakers last year. He was even better in the postseason, adding 23.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.3 steals in 10 playoff games.
James spent eight years with the Lakers, winning and NBA championship in 2020. He also won two titles with Miami (2012, 2013) and one with Cleveland (2016).
Philadelphia 76ers
James heads to the City of Brotherly Love looking to become the first player to win championships with four different franchises.
Signing James is the latest move in a busy off-season for Philadelphia. The 76ers also swung a major blockbuster trade to acquire Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics.
Philadelphia should be a major contender in the NBA’s Eastern Conference next season. In addition to James and Brown, the core includes Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe.
The 76ers currently boast the fourth-shortest odds to win next year’s NBA championship at +1000. They are also +400 to win the Eastern Conference, second only to the defending champion New York Knicks (+350).
