Pacers vs. Raptors NBA Betting Odds
Sometimes, taking a gap year in the NBA can lead to extended success. The San Antonio Spurs essentially tanked in the 1996-97 season without injured star David Robinson. That ended up getting San Antonio the top pick in the 1997 NBA Draft and the chance to select future Hall of Famer Tim Duncan. A dynasty was born.
Indiana is in a similar spot, having surprisingly won the Eastern Conference last season and pushing Oklahoma City to seven games in the NBA Finals, only for the Pacers to see star Tyrese Haliburton suffer a devastating injury. He will not play this season. So Indiana is basically following the Spurs’ blueprint, will add a lottery pick (or trade it) and ideally come roaring back in 2026-27 with Haliburton.
Toronto hasn’t swept Indiana in a season series since the 2014-15 season but has a chance for the four-game sweep Sunday, and the only one of the first three that was close was Nov. 26 at Scotiabank Arena, a 97-95 Dinos victory on a Brandon Ingram jumper with 0.6 seconds remaining. He is averaging a team-best 25.0 points along with 6.7 rebounds in the series.
The Raptors are 7-3 SU and ATS in the past 10 meetings, while the over-under is 6-4.
Indiana Pacers
Indiana made a really interesting trade ahead of Thursday’s deadline in acquiring Clippers centre Ivica Zubac. Interesting because the Pacers don’t plan to be all that competitive this season as mentioned and really don’t want to be. Get a great draft pick and come back loaded in 2026-27 in adding Zubac to All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton. Zubac has not yet debuted for Indiana due to an ankle issue and won’t go today, apparently, either. Get used to this. These bad teams are just going to start sitting guys left and right to tank. It’s a major, major problem in the NBA. Starting forward Aaron Nesmith (13.9 PPG) is among those questionable today. The team’s best player this season is former Raptor Pascal Siakam. He was named an All-Star for the fourth time and ranks 20th in the NBA this season with 23.8 points per game. He has reached 30 or more points eight times, surpassing his total of four from the 2024-25 regular season. Teammate Jay Huff leads the NBA with 97 blocked shots (2.1 per game). He was basically acquired off the scrap heap. Nice find. Indiana is 3-17 in its past 20 away.
Toronto Raptors
Toronto is 2-1 on this five-game homestand following a 123-107 blowout of Chicago on Thursday behind 33 points from Brandon Ingram and 24 from Immanuel Quickley, although he’s questionable today after spraining an ankle in Saturday’s practice. Jamal Shead likely starts if Quickley can’t. With the All-Star break approaching, we’d think the Dinos exercise caution. Centre Jakob Poeltl is also listed questionable, which is notable considering he hasn’t played since Dec. 21 due to back problems. If he plays, there will surely be a minutes limit. Toronto shot 56.3 per cent from the field vs. the Bulls to improve to 15-3 this season when hitting at least half its shots. The Raptors are 2-4 ATS in their past six at home.
